This fix does work and only takes a few minutes to do. It is very nice to get in the car, turn on the headlights and not have to see that stupid LBF.

I wonder if switching from 7.5a fuses in #11 and #12 to 15a will help my situation. I'd like to keep this CCm fix as a last resort. Any input? All I need to do is change #11 and #12 from 7.5a->15a right? I only have HIDs in my fogs right now.

Tried it on my 95 and I still get the msg 60% of the time. Fuses alone won't work for a complete fix. It will just drive you even more crazy that you did it with no resolve.

True... I think I should at least give the 15a fuses a try before going snip snip down there.

The splicing of wires, not the fuses. Another problem I somehow discovered was that one of the pins on my ellipsoids was not making contact causing my HIDs to flicker and thus lead me to believe my ballasts were bad. They would work for a month or so and then flicker...so I kept thinking it was the ballast.

Only easy way to fix it is to get resistors on the wires.

Okay back to the CCM modding, those 4 wires that are cut and plugged back in, they affect ONLY the LBF monitoring right? Nothing else?

for information. this thread should be a sticky, but it isn't, and we think people should see it.

Just a thought, if some CCM's (Check Control Modules) work and others do not, maybe we should take a poll for the ccm's themselves to see if there is a particular part number or revision number that works with HID's and some other numbers/revisions that throw LBF's consistently...

It would be good info to know if this is true, however, if they are all the same P/N or revision throughout, this would be sort of moot.

    Quick ?:

Are the CCM wiring schematics / colors the same for 92-95 as 96-99 models?

Mmaigret, the OP, I know had a OBD II M3.

I don't know about the wiring position, but the colors are most definitely NOT the same.

    OH CRAP !!!

I just tried this, but It seems like my 1993 eurospec has different color coding for those cables

    what do do now ?

PS. At least I got to spray some silicon lubricant on my clutch pedal bearings, and the freaking noise went away....... for a couple of months at least...... I hope...

Ok, so I know I am bringing it back again, but does anybody know if the wires that need to be spliced together are in the same position as the OP's? I have a '95 325i (so ODB1 instead of OBDII) and the LBF is driving me nuts... I could always wire a couple resistors into the lines, but this is a much cleaner and reversible option.

haven't been keeping up with this thread much, but I did this EXACT fix on my 95 M3 and it worked perfectly.
