Well everyone I think I solved my logistical problem that has been holding me back from doing work in the rare occasions I actually had time to do so; Since the car is nose first into the garage and the engine doesn't fit trough the access door on the opposing side from the garage door, I've been a little stuck. I really didn't feel like remounting the front suspension and wheels and most stuff on the rear end of the car either so there was no way for me to take the car outside and rotate it to put it back in ass first. A friend of mine pointed out there is a cheap solution, kinda like a square frame with wheels and extendable struts that you place under the chassis. So I bought one. Need to modify it a little so it isn't as high as now in fully retracted position and I need to figure out a way to support the car on the shotguns and rear subframe so I can remove the Quickjack from under the sills because that's where the contraption goes. Will work on this tomorrow, pics wil follow. Once that is done I will clean the engine bay, decide on if I wanna go through the process of shaving the strut tower seams (a look I very much enjoy) and finally scanning the engine bay for development purposes. Stay tuned

Well not much of an exciting update since the last months I've been working a lot outside of the country and the time I did spend in a garage was helping a friend getting his (also Estoril S50B32) e36 convertible on the road.
Tried my (very dusty) M striped rear seat:
Gonna look stunning.
But anyways, I managed to rotate my car in the garage to have the engine bay accessible for the engine via the big door. It was a truly scary operation.
Taking the quickjacks away from underneath the sills
Way too high
Chop chop on my new saw table
After some more chopping and welding we managed to get the car on the mover
taking the rear subframe off the car since it had the tendency to make wheelies !! (yes, scary)
Unfortunately with the previous owner or workshop it was in being a complete retard, as they apparently torqued the RTAB pocket bolts with an impact wrench at max torque for 20 seconds; I sheared off all three bolts of the right pocket trying to undo them. I had to use a 1.5 meter long bar on the socket and all of my strength. This worked -just- on the left pocket but now i have 3 pieces of stuck bolt thread in my car. I bought the most expensive quality extractor kit on the market here in the hope that it will up my chances of success... otherwise it will either be cutting out the threaded bushes to replace them, or welding studs in place of bolts. Will work on this soon, should not forget to spray releasing agent in the holes by the way.
It comes with counter rotating drill bits and all parts are individually obtainable.
dissecting the subframe (because it is a bitch to handle otherwise)
And then came the REALLY scary bit; imagine the chassis of the car (still weighing in at 1000kg or so) loose on top of a square transporter with Chinese plastic castor wheels, and only 2 guys. These wheels just go anyway the gravity or surface leads them to and it was nearly impossible to control the car. Anyways we managed to roll it outside without it toppling off, or banging it into the garage door opening.
Then an equally scary and even tougher bit, rotating the car on that uneven pavement and getting the car back into the garage, but then up the incline!
We just BARELY made it without a disaster...
And finally, spend some time yesterday disassembling/cutting off bits from the RTA's
Everything seized solid as usual on this car.
The venting on the hood looks great!
Easy way to deal with the broken bolts is to cut the shank they are broken in, out as the are welded in from the bottom of the rtab pocket. Then just weld In a new shank. May be a easier rout then trying to extract them all

I've decided on using keenserts

Damn... last update from June last year.
Moved homes, building garage/workshop with underground car lift etc.
Not much done (if any) to the M3 really. Definitely an itch that needs scratching...
Not sure if this will work but I'd try welding a nut onto the broken bolt and removing. Try hitting broken piece with a punch few times first then welding. May not work but worth a try before cutting it out...
As someone that took twenty years (twenty-one, but who's counting...) to restore my '57 Austin-Healey, I can not only relate, but I have lived it. As long as you have a supportive spouse__or spouses, two (2) back to back in my case__it doesn't matter how long it takes as long as you enjoy the process.
When I finished the Healey__a relative term, yes, as I have collected still more parts to fit to it__I took to turning other people's BMWs into projects; far more profitable, and I can spend their money buying tools, equipment and fancy parts!
Looking forward to continued progress, updates and pictures. Good job.
Loving the love your putting into this build. Truly exceptional contribution and inspiration to the BMW community.

This.
These bolts are 10.8 grade. You get absolutely nowhere with extractors etc. It's even very hard to drill a hole in these bolts. I tied with very high quality cobalt drills and you barely scratch it. Extractor simply snaps off.
Just cut them out and weld in new pieces, done.
Also, when these are stuck, never try to loosen them with a bar extender. Just get a big impact wrench and knock them loose.

They Say Money Talks, All Mine Ever Says Is Goodbye
They drilled out no problem and it's fixed with high quality threaded bushings, aerospace grade. I'm not gonna cut and weld my chassis when I don't have to lol... and my heavy impacter didn't budge them.
