    Photo of CSi EML needed!

    I just recently had a board member program a 850i DME and EML with CSi software. Had it installed and the car runs fine in normal mode but in Sport mode it runs very rough. The EML does not communicate with our autologic scanner either so i think it could be that there is a hardware difference between the CSI and regular 850i EML. I am unsure if the 850i EML used in the conversion was from an automatic or manual, some people said that the pinout on the automatic is different then the manual.
    If someone has a spare CSi EML laying around im very interested, this is the last piece i need to finally restore the car
    Does any CSi owner have photo of a pinout from their EML they can email to me for comparison?

    Was the checksum corrected when the CSi file was programmed for the EML? The pinout is available if you download the 850csi electrical troubleshooting manual, just google it. Odd that it runs rough when you flick the switch, maybe its messing with ignition timing as the gearbox and traction control retard timing via the EML--DME. Did you run CSi software on a standard DME?.

    the EML and DME from a base model 850i were programmed with CSi software from another Csi. The DMEs were programmed as such and they work fine. The car idles high when in sport mode and just runs rough, no smoke though. I took the EML off and it seems to have shorted out from moisture, going to replace it hopefully that would fix the issue.

    Right, so you have a CSi that was missing its computers or is this fitted to a regular 850?

    yes i have a csi that was missing the computers. I had a board member and fellow CSi owner in germany, buy a pair of regular 850i DMEs and EML, and loaded the CSi software from his car into these. I plugged them in and it started the car up no problem in normal mode, the trouble started when i press the sport button.

    Believe so. Lets see if the EML Arno programs with CSi software works on his car. If it does then we should be good.

    Today I have done the testing and I am very happy about the result. Everything works fine, also the, before untested, EML-Button. No rev change when pushed by idling engine and the engine stays running smooth. Advanced ratio when driving.

    Today it was too late, so I plan the OBD diagnosis of the DMEs and the EML for tomorrow, but I don`t expect any surprises.

    Today we made a little trip to “The Pfaelzer Wald” (Germany) and “The Elsass” (France). All together a little more than 200 km. The car drove great. At home again at 9 pm.

    After that I made the OBD-Diagnosis for the EML and the DMEs as promised. As expected, everything fine. No faults stored.

    Interesting detail. Up to now I did not pay attention to it.

    The ECUs are made of Bosch #0205000015 (EML) and Bosch #0261200352.

    Before diagnosing the ECUs, the scanner shows up the version numbers of the hardware, software and so on. As you can see at the screenshots, not only the software version is switched to the CSi software. Also the hardware version has switched to the CSi hardware. I would have expected the hardware version were stored somewhere else, not within the software EPROMs. But that´s the way it seems to be at the EML, as well as at the DMEs.

    Very interesting, so somewhere in the EPROM code is the expected checksum.....I've searched but can't find it.....maybe it is in written in reverse like the serial numbers.

    It now looks like a 0205000005 eml unit can be safely married to a 0261200352 dme unit, provided one has an original eml eprom from the original eml unit installed at the factory (0205000015)-hurrahh!!
    I assume that this is equally valid to 3rd party eproms from Wokke and rottaler2

    Omega man 1969 – I would expect a checksum at the end of the file, but there are only $FF-Bytes. Another idea was, at the end of the data??? I also don´t know.

    Unfortunately you don´t get any support from Bosch. Since three years, I try to get schematic diagrams of the M70/S70 EMLs and DMEs. No success up to now, but I don’t give up!

    Is this true? I have 0205000005 EML unit from e32 auto. I was thinking I will use it for my e31 850i manual. Will that work? Does the eprom chip need to be replaced in EML module?

    Should work, at least I have tested it on E32 750, no need to replace the EPROM.

    Bosch DME's and EML's are "most of the time" the same. NO auto or manual version (all eprom based).

    I tuned one of my CSI's (wanted to keep the original ones).
    - EML 0 205 000 015 --> did open it and IDENTICAL to the original one inside (even the serials on the PCB), put CSI eprom in it: perfect
    - EML 0 205 000 005 --> not identical hardware and did not run ok with CSI eprom

    - DME 0 261 200 352 --> I used this version and works perfect with a CSI eprom

    The above mentioned EML and DME's are from M70 engines and easy to buy.

    Running over a year already.

    Hi, i also have the same issue here, missing EML & DME for my CSi. So how can i get the eprom from m70 to be reprogrammed to match those from s70?
