    Navigation screen Bracket.

I need to modify the bracket since 99 plus options buttons are different.

So here are the options. Try and find a navi bracket for a early model. Which seems hard to find.
Or cut and chop and drill.

This is what we have now. But early buttons wont fit.

Basically I cut off the bottom of an early frame. Now match it to the late frame.

Only issue is getting them together.
My plan is to drill holes, use short screws, and use a metal strip to bind them together. Thus making the 2 into one.

Im sure a good weld would suffice too but I dont have such skills.

Crap, I bought one from a '99 thinking it was drag and drop. So it won't fit my 97, eh?

I didn't know pre-facelift cars came with navigation, or am I mistaken here?

yes they did, but was rare.
it will fit, but your options buttons like RDC, ASC, DSC, rear blind, heated seats, etc wont fit and they just flop around.

i got the above to work...used an epoxy, then removed the center console, drilled it down and its solid. everything is half installed now (just placement) until i get to finish it up some tomorrow.

Looks like everyone elses navi unit. But the buttons look awful if you dont get the right bracket. Mine are all installed properly now.

Doesn't it show a seam where you spliced the old button bracket to the newer bezel?

Nope. Long as you cut them the same. A shot of plastic dip or black paint can help too.
