1998 328i when my sunroof is fully open . . .

the motor wont move the sunroof to open it.
I have to crank it open a little using the hex tool, then the switch
will work to close it fully.

the sunroof works fine halfway quarter way ect.
it will go back and forth

but when its fully open and sunroof all the way back
is when i have trouble

any way to fix ?

There are a series of plastic lifters/arms and metal tracks. Something is broken or misaligned. If you continue using it like it is you will be facing additional damage. Ask me how I know. There are some diy fixes online http://WWW.bimmerdiy.com/day/e36sunroof/ if your headliner is sagging now may be a good time to have it redone. It is very easy to take out yourself. Once it is out you can remove the entire cassette which will make repair a lot easier. The other option is to remove and fill with a sick CF or fiberglass panel from S2R Tuning.
