Hello All,
I got in my car this morning to go to work. I started it as usual, but noticed low engine idle.
I went to drive it, and it had hardly no power.
So, I went ahead and drove it to work, it did not get any better. Also, at idle, there is a spark knock.
No check engine light.
So, I let the car sit all day to cool off. Still the same on the way home.
I can push the accelerator to the floor from a stop light, and there is little power.
Update: The check engine light came on when pulling into the my driveway. Code 140 Engine Torque bank comparison.
HEEEEELP!!!!
Thanks in advance,
John
Hi John. I got your PM. If I knowledge of your issue, I would have posted it here. I have little knowledge on the M73 so I rarely get involved in a 750 thread. Found just a few threads on a quick search with no clear resolution. MAF bad on one side to the EML needing to be coded/resynced. Sorry not much help. Best of luck.
The code is what it sounds like... the EML is not happy with how the power on one side compares to the other.
Check coils, MAFs, etc.
Thanks for the input.

Here is an update. The passenger side is not working. I swapped the coil from the left to the right, still no power. I swapped the maf from the left to the right, still no luck. The coil is firing to the dist. cap, and out of the cap to the spark plugs.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

So I can pull the boot back between the maf and the throttle body. Stick a small long screwdriver in to activate the throttle plate, and it responds. So, it looks like the throttle body, or what controls the throttle plate motor??
Thanks
Oh boy. Do NOT move the throttles manually like that.
You may need BMW software to diagnose throttle problems or sync a new one to the car.
Also, doesn't hurt to try this procedure:

Thanks. I tried that procedure with no luck.
What software do you recommend?
I may just take to an independent that
specializes in BMW and mini to run a
diag.

Is there a way to test the throttle body?
Thanks
The throttles have the same part # for both so you may be able to swap them.
Also remember that the intakes cross over to the other side of the engine, so was the throttle you "tested" really for the cold side? Depends on where you measured the temperatures.
Thanks. I will swap tbodys today and see what
happens.
Are you saying the passenger side tbody
works for the driver side bank? The passenger
side works for the driver side bank?
Update: swapped tbodys. No difference.
Taking in for diag tomorrow. Sound like
bad DME??
Thanks
