Few updates from Clay:
New Discs. I (unbeknownst to me) had (2) ceramic discs the first time around which hold more torque (1000 ft/lbs give or take), but made for a less friendly operation. This time, I have the street package which is (1) ceramic and 1 Fiber disc, capable of 800+ wtq and a friendlier engagement.
Conversion Bell Housing Should fit the already massaged tunnel:
Trans comparison. I toyed with a meme generator, but realized I am less than creative. Huge difference though!

Looks great, Does that shifter line up to the hole on the tunnel?

Sorry to thread hack, but just had a few quick questions for you as I am doing this same thing in my BMW. Where did you get your bell house conversion kit and how are you mating the new trans with your driveshaft? Did you have custom drive shaft built? Or is the trans output bolt right to the BMW drive shaft?
It's a quick time bellhousing. Several places sell it. And I am guessing he will do another custom shaft..especially at the 850+whp he is making.

I would order all parts from Grannas Racing. I pieced mine together through Summit and Grannas (for hardware and Pilot bearing) but now that his pricing on the trans and bell housing matches Summit -- go through him for everything in 1 fell swoop.
Its a custom driveshaft.. not the stock BMW one. When we installed the T56, we had to shorten it (as the T56 is longer than the R154) but definitely not OEM.
Yep. I went through Summit initially as GR was going to be ~$700 more but he dropped all his pricing about a month ago and is a wealth of knowledge.

Ive really not driven it a ton in the past year. I really do like the shifting action, gear length is nearly identical to my R154 for 3rd and 4th which is what I wanted.
That said, its definitely not a quiet trans. Talked to someone recently who said putting a fluid dampener on the front of the motor makes a big difference, so I may go that route preventatively as the factory ones give up and the added bonus would be quieting things down

Well at least you got the gear length of how you wanted. Awesome well let me know if it makes a change since I will be doing the same swap maybe late this year or next year and I just want to see how this zf trans acts and see if it holds. Just wanted to have as much info on this as possible since there not make E36s with T56s.
