Vaat iz going ahhhnnnnn
Still stuck in NC??
Oh.... yes still in NC. Had to get my registration down there to him didnt I. Apparently driving an unregistered car despite shop tags is a no no in NC. He also had a tinting issue with the bumpers and side panels. I saw them off the car last Sat. Looked great. On the car however...... so he's respraying this W/E.
Had some more techno convo with him also about the car, computers etc. Its all obd2 running the M60B40 engine.
Oh well next week. Another Bimmer Fest missed.
Just had these 2001 bumpers painted and put on my 99.
Shop reckons they are a different shade?
What do you think?

Is it Titan silver? There were different shades depending on which plant it was painted in, or so I was told. At Bimmerfest there were two titans next to one another and they were different colors.

Thats what the problem is then. Leaving it I will have the slightly darker titan silver on the front and rear bumpers and the side skirts. He thinks he can match them though.
Thanks for the info.

After 3 years of ownership, I hate the M62TU. Horrible engine to maintain.
If I had the funds, an LS2, 3 or 7 would in the car right now.
Congrats on your car!

Thanks. Though I do not yet have the car. After the paint is done he's installing some HID's. Then he's supposed to be driving it up here.
Why even bother with a chev engine. Alot of coin there. Just drop an M60B40 in, put it on some NOS and water methanol injection and theres your hp!!
Mine has some serious cooling for the work I plan for it by way of a Zenith rad. It will get a tow hook and some air ride rear suspension aswell. (Long term plan once the 635 turbo is done) so I can tow it around...... a year or so from that.
Just picked up a good bare M30 block. Im having the water jacket extrusion honed and some special cylinder bore work done. Along with O rings, just getting ready for assembly. Have some high hp plans for this old girl.
Whole reason I got the 740 was for towing the e24 around....... anyway, but I digress; have to get the 7 back first dont I!!!

True, but they're even more reliable, more power out of the box, easier to work on, less cams, easy reliable power if you crave more, sound better, more tuning options than an M60. But for $800, you can't beat that.
I should have dropped an M60 in mine but I'm not a wiring guy.

There's been so many costly conversions done. Has to be a chev drop in kit somewhere?

Have the wheels and tires balanced and ready to put on!!
245/45/18's up front
275/40/18's on the back.
Front bumper had a crack in it. Before paint it needed a repair.
Car has clocked a couple hundred miles for the shop with out a code, leak, squeel or stutter. Will have all the fluid replaced and brakes done before the drive up from NC.
Dang, it still hasn't made it's way north?

Nope not yet. I was hoping the front bumper escaped damage from the rear damage crash that totalled it originally. But this was not so. With the front bumper off for paint cracks were found so had to get some repairs.
Is a long time. Would rather not find these problems later.
In no rush.
Gives me more oportunities to get stuff for it done before it arrives. I did also recently find some hid lights/balasts so had them installed aswell.

Picked up this and the other side today!
Odd question, but living it Lititz, you must know some people at Tait Towers? A friend of mine works there.
Its a fairly impressive building. My daughters and I stop at a bakery near the entrance once or twice a week.
Dont know anyone working there.
I beg to differ, I've yet to hear an LS sound better than my M60! :P Only when they're not N/A but then it's not the motor you hear anymore it's the turbo or screws!
Looking forward to you getting this girl back on the road!

My dad in New Zealand just picked up this 2001 728i. Fully loaded.
Some nice father son bonding moments ahead I perceive.
Now about my car/cars......
Had arranged to pick her up the weekend of the 17th ....... but guess who's 10th wedding anniversary it is!?! Yep ...... nearly had a major problem with wifey! Could you imagine her response to me saying " hey im picking up the car in North Carolina next weekend..... do you have any plans?
Yeah would have been ugly.
So put off another weekend.
Going to be taking his e32 735i back that was a loaner from the shop. Trans failed on it! which ultimately lead to buying the diesel Jetta.....
Picking up my "name tag sake" car, the 635 turbo and the engine that was being put together there, with the euro short bumper body kit, hauling that back and driving the 740iL back!!!
Only problem I have is needing a driver for the 740iL.
So if anyone is interested in doing some miles on the weekend of the 25th. Let me know! You'd have to meet me in Lititz Pa, travel down to North Carolina in the Grand Cherokee hauling the e32 735i, then drive my newly engined 740iL back!!!
Its a good 8 hrs either way.

Oh man, it's almost there... Wish I was over in the states, I'd gladly lend you a hand. But I'd let YOU drive the E38 back haha. Hope you can find someone, will be so good to finally see the end of this
Thanks Sobek. I would of course preffer to drive the 740 back but my real baby the 635 turbo will be on the trailer behind the Grand Cherokee. I wouldn't burden anyone with trailering that on a nine hour drive!!!
Seeing as I have some space on the trailer I might take these to put them on the 740 for the homecoming!!
those are interesting looking wheels. what style are they and whats the specs?
Had a look. ..... gonna wait on a set of a.c. schnitzers to magically turn up. Or may get those winter tires for a future set ......... well. It'll waite. As I've learned patience pays well.
Any takers on my cars maiden journey from NC to Lititz PA?
Looks like the w/e of the 25th and 26th.
