Hi all,
My name is Max, i am an italian BMW enthusiast... earlier this year i bought a nice 1994 Hellrot e36 320i, and last june i cooked the headgasket on a touge.
After that i found an engine m52b28 coming from a 528i automatic.
what we did was to insert the engine inside my car/gearbox.
Now.....
i sent the MS41 ECU to a tech to unable the EWS,
but the engine is not starting.
It Cranks, but dont fire.
with the INPA i am reading two errors but i bet that those errors are not preventing the car from starting
217 Timeout CAN-message of EGS
100 selftest ECU
anyone have advice?
max
Who did the ecu?
Does the fuel pump prime?

The tuner fixed the ecu, so now we have cleared all the errors and they are not popping up if cranking.
What we can see its that the fuel is injected into the engine but we dont have spark.
The spark plugs are new, the coils are not but i dont think i have 6 bad coils..
The car still dont fire.
Engine ground maybe

Self test ECU can also point to a corrupt flash, before you go crazy with other things.
It can also be just an uncorrected checksum, but I doubt it.

Hallo boomkind,
I am going to do the same swap, what you did. Engine swap from an e39 M52B28, into an 94' 320i. It is really hard to find on the internet what do you need for the swap. Can you please send me, what did you changed and what should you get from the e39? You deleted the EWS, did you need a new cabling from an 328i or from an e39? What about the throttle body and the gaspedal, how could you solve it?
THanks for your help!
