    Thanks! I haven't seen your cage, but I would think that you could still add it in, although it may be very uncomfortable.

    Door Bars, Uninterrupted X, angled out into the doors. I will gusset these.

    Now (but not in the pics), the harness bars are done, the front rear subframe vertical bars are connected to the main hoop, and the bottom half of the aluminum rear bulkhead is made. Tonight, Ill be making the top half, and finish welding the bars that are only tacked. hopefully I can make the steering column support as well.

    Got some more work done last night. I apologize for the terrible angles and dungeon like light, I will do a proper photoshoot in the sun later.

    Last night I did more on the cage, made the aluminum bulkhead, which, admittedly I kind of rushed and would have liked a more professional look, but ehh, maybe I'll fix it down the road.



    Also got the windows cut out and fitted. Very easy when you have the old windows to trace!



    Tonight is the last night before a drift night I plan to attend tomorrow, got 4 pairs of sticker tires, rented a trailer, and took a couple hours off work. I better make it!

    Whats left to do tonight:

    1. attached windows permanently (counter sunk self tappers)
    2. clean and prime interior
    3. finish trimming and rebuilding dash
    4. put seats in, belts
    5. finish gutting doors
    6. Oil and PS fluid check
    7. trunk spring clip install (broke the old ones last time

    looks good! keep it up. i'm gonna try to make WITW next spring. (my build is still stalled, but i think it'll be back under way shortly) be cool for us to get some runs in together.

    Here is the only picture that has surfaced from the iTrack event up at linier Raceplex.

    unfortunately, someone loosing all their oil on the track kept seat time to a minimum, and just when I was getting a hold of the line I should take, the night was over. But at least she made it, and didn't break too badly.

    Little update: My engine is officially for sale.

    the car has gotten pretty beat up this season with my foray into tandem, but it has been so much fun. During the offseason, it will be getting a lot of love.

    I bought and LQ9, and CD009 trans. Plan is to boost it with the stock block.

    So far I have:

    Fbody oil pan kit
    Slave cylinder
    t56 bellhousing
    big radiator for rear mounting

    Still have a lot more parts to collect! it'll go much faster if I can get my motor/trans/everything sold!

    haha, I would love to bring this completed, but with the cage, I think it's too risky to drive it on the dragon, one little bump on the ol noggin and I could be out like a light. I plan to bring a bike again (to be purchased in the spring lol)

    Time for an update! Sold my engine awhile back, tore down, cleaned up, and built up my LQ9. current engine mods are:

    LS9 headgaskets
    ARP headstuds
    BTR Pushrods
    Comp Trunion upgrade
    PAC valvesprings
    Custom ATI balancer
    ACT prolite flywheel
    ACT pressure place
    Collins adapter clutch (sprung 6 puck)
    Melling High Pressure oil pump
    Summit double roller timing chain
    Improved Racing baffle and support bracket

    Otherwise everything was cleaned up and the stock parts put back in, all new gaskets. I did not disassemble the short block just painted it.

    Also, My turbo came in, BorgWarner s400sx-75 (s475). This thing is much bigger than I imagined and I am starting to get worried about space in the bay. The rad is going in the trunk, but the intercooler still needs room.




    Next plans:

    1. Test fit engine in the car, fab up mounts, cut hole for new shifter placement
    2. Build turbo merge and downpipe
    3. Cry because there isn't enough room to use truck manifolds
    4. Drain bank account for new manifolds
    5. Pull the engine back out and finish cleaning up the engine bay, push drivers seat, steering wheel, and pedals back 6"

    this is going to be sexy!

    I know some people on the BMW LS Swaps FB group were talking about the possibility of using the CX racing headers. They make a turbo manifold for the LS swapped in to a 240sx. May be worth looking in to.

    I 100% guarantee that the truck manifolds won't work unless you stick the intake manifold through the hood. I tried with my swap and I had to have like 2-1/4" of clearance between the pan and the subframe for them to clear. I ended up using a set of eBay truck headers, but they basically pointed into where the alternator sits on a corvette so I had to chop em up.

    Moral of the story, no factory manifold will ever clear the steering shaft unless you want to mount the motor super high and make a custom trans tunnel.

    on Ig has a video of his car running with reversed truck manifolds, in an e46. Also it is unclear if the steering shaft is hooked up. furthermore, he ended up making manifolds. I'm going to give it the old college try, and if it turns out that it just ain't gonna work, I'll succumb. I may have more options, I don't have a brake booster. so maybe I can make a new steering shaft, which maybe be more expensive than the headers lol.

    I've also see someone that machined the flange to change the angle of the manifold... that may be a feasible option too.

    I'd normally say I like the way you think, but it's just physically too bulky on the #7 runner and the angle at which it comes off the port is directly into the u joint

    I think he's talking about flipping them side to side and making them come forward... Which makes sense since I've seen plenty of LS guys do this when going turbo.

    Edit: I see his pic now and read better. There may be a difference in engine placement too between his setup and yours with the trans difference.

    I think that you do understand I am running them forward, the bulky part would normally be cylinder two runner in a normally oriented application....

    Also I can try to notch the firewall and move the steering shaft lower/out of the way....

    Yeah, like this but the other side and pointing forward for turbo stuffs

    Firewall clearance won't be an issue, it's the booster and u joint that hit, but since you're boosterless that just leaves the steering. One option might be to make a custom column since you have a dash bar on your cage, or mount the motor far enough ahead that it's behind the cylinder. Either way, if you can get it to fit post lots of pics as I'd be curious to see where I went wrong.

    Do you recall how much it potentially protrudes into the U-joint space? I was looking at the steering column last night, and without a booster I have a good 2" I could move it right (towards driver) and down.

    you also need to keep in mind that the E46 is like 2 inches wider between the frame rails, makes a big difference for header clearance.
