$60 in manual M3 seat frames
    $5 for 4 plastic pins
    SEM black dye
lost 20lbs of motors & drives and gained more adjustability.

that's actually cheaper than both reclining gears. Good idea, actually.

    What's the plastic pins for?

They are actually black plastic fasteners underneath the seat bottom foam. when you pull the seat bottom up (after removing the scews) they tend to break off the frame.

On a side note, I have mixed feelings for both setups having swapped my foam cushions from power seat, to manual, and then back to power seat frames. there are pros and cons to both. The weight difference between the two are also negligible (I believe it was 5 lbs if you have powered).

The power seats have same adjustability setting (albeit slower because you are pushing buttons and waiting for the motor). I would however argue you have more adjustability with the electric seats frame at least on the backrest because there are no pivot points like the manual gears. Whatever position the back rest motor stops at is your set position vs the pre-defined angles of the manual gears. I can also change seat position while driving (not really safe for me to do so for manual set). And for some reason the manual (at least for my set), the backrest had more wobble/play and the seat rails were always more rusty (or less sturdy) than the power seat versions.

All that said, the manual set is slightly lighter, less complicated, slightly better headroom (thinner but cheaper seat rails), and faster to adjust. Plus you don't have to worry about motors, gears, or power cutting out that would make it super difficult to service (ask me how I know).

I used a regular scale one would have at home and there was about 10lbs difference between the manual and powered seat frames.
The manual seat frames and powered seat frames looked identical, and mine fine just as solid as the powered frames, no wobble.
The manual seat frames went lower.

I used to use these guys before Brett came in with his own set. Pricier but apparently have variations depending on year and side of car.
