I just finished replacing the RTAB's on my 95 m3 for the second time. I lost the pipe caps I used last time but found a great alternative. I had a "monster ball joint service kit" that I had borrowed from Advance Auto (Kit #72) to put all new bushings into a 2002 / S-14 swap.... I was able to use the kit to easily install the new bushings. It only took about 5 minutes per side to get the new bushings in place (once the old ones were removed). This kit is like any other "loaner" tool.... simply pay a deposit and get it back when you return the tools.

    If someone could clarify please:
To remove the existing, original OEM RTAB, the updated versions of the MIS Tool or Bimmerworld Tool should remove them without any cutting any RTAB tabs with a sawzall?

The AKG tool instructions say to use a "box cutter" to remove that lip on the OE RTAB. Is that even possible? The lip is made out of metal right?

they want you to cut the rubber "nub" on the other side so that the flat metal plate will go through the hole square.

If you leave that rubber piece, its possible for the metal plate to slide and not be square in the hole

Bumping an old thread but I used an air hammer to remove the old RTAB. Took less than 3 minutes per side. Compare that to using the drill and sawzall method like I did 2 years ago. It's much faster and there's no chance you'll accidentally cut into the trailing arm with the sawzall

Has anyone found a grease that won't eventually 'squeak' with the Powerflex bushing? I did my '95 several years ago and it's starting to squeak. I used Red axle grease on my '95. I'm about to do my '97 and would rather it didn't squeak.

I use the copper grease that's included. It's just enough to do both sides. No squeak yet and that's about 15,000 miles
