So, this looks like the real deal and i had only time enough to snap 2 picture so this is what I got.
The seats are recaro blue. It's Alpina on the back with the spong spoiler, correct wheels.
Thoughts?
comes back as an E21 323 left hand drive build date 2/82

all of them gray

Welp, that's more information that what the vin decides give me on my mobile.
I'll have a chance to look at this tomorrow, what should I look for? At?
It's a 323i, but not an Alpina. There would be a plaque on the passenger side dash if it were modified at the Alpina factory, but that doesn't mean it can't have Alpina parts installed.

Yup, even rarer the blue Alpina steering wheel cover!
I think the pictures themselves are cool. When you go back to visit, do some more of that before you touch it.
Man that would be the best as an enthusiast to stumble on something like that. More pics please !
Look closely at the wheels to verify that they are genuine Alpina. I'm assuming that's what you meant when you said they are "correct". If they say anything other than Alpina on them, they are not from Alpina, but that doesn't mean they aren't good wheels, just not the real deal.
If they are 15", that would be nice. If they are 15" and staggered with 6" width on the front and 7" on the back, that's even better. If they are all of the above and in good or restorable condition, you've hit the jackpot.
And hey, while you're at it, look underneath and see if happens to have a deep finned Alpina diff cover.

It's in the desert. From what I saw rust is surface, no rot.Originally Posted by Layne

My 16" MSW's are 20 spoke. When I first got the car, and had no clue, I thought I might have had the true gems. Alpina keeps it tight with those small diameter circle in the center where the lugs go, so the spokes are extra long. Content with the MSWs though! Great find, looking forward to more pics. I, like i'm sure many of you, often dream of finding a dusty treasure such as this... one day

15 inch 20 count,
Alpina in dash, nick marks from where people have tried to pull it off.
Finned rear diff.
Next stop...contact alpina?
what is special about the steering wheel? it looks exactly like the one on the 77 i just bought.
1977 320i - BBSs, Recaros, LSD, Zender bits
So...anyone know rules / laws about cars that have been sitting around for 10years, no title and the last known owner died 9 years ago?Originally Posted by erikerikerik
Wouldn't contact Alpina.
Dash/glove box badge is an ebay type bit - nothing that would have appeared there or anywhere else on a real Alpina.
Diff is standard. That's not the big finned cover I'm assuming you've read about.
Look like an Alpina rim.
My guess is still a 323i with some Alpina parts on it (and so far that I've seen, only the rims).

BMW...those bastards. (talking about the diff) those fins look bigger than those on my e36 m3.Originally Posted by Mike323i
Hey is it just me or was that standard to hand engrave VIN plates like that? haha .....
I am NOT an expert in that department when it comes to the combined knowledge of the Forum ( us), but honestly, if I pulled ya over and I saw that plate, I would definitely look at the fender VIN in the engine compartment. That looks sooo fishy it's not even funny.....but I'm sure I'll get schooled here in a sec....so please give it to me!!! ahhahahaha
I need to know as a BMW owner, enthusiast and of course as an officer if that VIN is a standard issue??????????????????????????????

Welp, I'm guessing it's a rep.
Thanks playing folks... Should I take it? It was offered free to me.

Vins the same.
Nope, most vins are pressed in, this does look hand etched.

Should you take it? Are you serious?
Absolutely grab it! All the euro parts are worthwhile (trans and diff, rear brakes, etc), plus wheel, seats, etc.
