I just bought a 530 with m tech bumpers and want to get a new muffler for it...that 14829 looks perfect...I think i'll get that one
^^^^^ interesting, I was leaning toward the 14829 and my 22 yo stepson son says the 14815 looks more classy. He says the 14829 is geared toward someone his age
I ordered the 14815....I really like the tips on the 14816 much better but I don't want something that big

Do you have the stock muffler on your car?

My bad, yeah that is what I meant. I only mentioned it because when I was researching muffler/tip options it took me a while to figure out that one was slanted.
You don't have to buy an M bumper with a diffuser. You can just cut your current bumper a lot of people have done it. It looks pretty good.

If you just want a tip welded onto your current muffler it can be done. I had it done on my car. And when I searched through old threads I found a couple people who had also done it, but no one had any detailed pics. But there were a whole bunch of places that said it could not be done so having shops tell you it can't be done seems to be more prevalent that places acutally wanting to do it. I think most shop are not used to doing custom work or want to make money off selling you a bumper.
Your shop should be able to follow these directions

And attached is a pic of my Dinan tip, which is attached to my OEM muffler. The shop I went to basically did basically what those directions state except it was a little more tricky because the Dinan piece is just a straight tube, but I believe the magnaflow tips have reducer on the back. By reducer I mean if the tip is 4" then the back side of the tip is 2.5" or 3" so it mates up with the stock exhaust pipe coming off the muffler.

Oh geez, this thing is bound to be LOUD. My stepson's Subaru WRX with his Cobb Coffee Can is SOOOOO loud and drones SO bad, he thinks it's not so bad. I hope you have better taste in sound!
I assume you do as you have better taste in CARS
PS: twinscrew supercharger in the e46, still a boy at heart!
Trust me, I was in the same boat as you when deciding on a muffler. I was asking the exact same questions, dinan or magnaflow route, cutting bumpers, sound levels, yada yada. I didn't want drone, or raspyness, just a smooth lounder than stock tone. Also, mainly to fill the gap for the m-tech bumper with an oemish and clean look. Once you cruising on the street, you won't hear it, its like stock.
yep stock muffler...see pic below

14834 street series is the way to go
^^^^ Single tip solution with 3" inlet
I have the dinan one, its not overly loud at all. outside the car its incredible, inside you hardly notice it

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I think I've changed my mind about 14829...im gonna get one of the dual tip mufflers instead. I was looking at it and it kinda looks a bit ricey to me. it reminds me of the one on my maxima. the 14815/816 do look classier.
I agree with #2 stepson, good choice!!

Had a Magnaflow 14815 installed today, gotta love amazon Prime, 1 day delivery....
Very happy, nice and quiet with a bit of depth! PERFECT!!!!
Thanks Carlova! Great advice! Need to trim the diffuser a smidge, it's all good! How much of a gap should be good 3/8" ?

Absolutely PERFECT!!! Cant wait til I get one!
Now I am trying to decide if I want to wrap the diffuser in 3M 1080 carbon fiber film.....I think it will add a bit of contrast back there.

Looks great. Think you can put up a video soon?
I can do that....we are getting pelted with 4 inches of rain on the east coast. Will try to do it this weekend..
BTW, that stock muffler is a boat anchor, so heavy!
The shop was concerned that the new muffler needed more than one hanger. I said, what til you take the stock muffler off. If that could be held with one hanger, this one surely will be fine!

Nice that was quick. Glad you like it! Yeah the east had quite a storm today.
It's hanging a bit low in my opinion. I'm also thinking about wrapping my diffuser.
Your car looks just like mine from the rear! Lol

I'll get some pics of my diffuser tomorrow. You will be able to tell how much was cut.
Here's a video from inside the car....still pouring here, 3.25 inches of rain and counting!

I think the pic is a little deceptive as the car is standing 7 ft above ground level. Typical view would be looking down at the exhaust from 6 feet, not up. I like were the tips seem to sit in relation to the center point of the diffuser. We will see how it looks on the ground. As he welded the hanger to the muffler, I'd have to bring it back to the shop to raise it.
I tried to wrap it last week with 3M 1080 carbon fiber film and failed miserably. I didn't have the patience for it! So I stopped by a shop, they said they'd wrap it for $100. Instead, I bought another roll for $18 and my stepson's buddy said he'd take care of it. Guess he's wrapped the top of his E60 BMW and his racing sled and feels confident in doing it. Here's a link to what I bought (twice) if interested:
