School me on 'doing it right'.

I'm not new to the boost game. I have a Miata that will run low 12's all day. However, I picked up a shitty 328is E36 as a daily... and find myself falling in love with it.

I keep throwing around the idea of selling all my cars and turboing a clean E36 325is. The Miata is fun and all, but I want a car with some nasty highway capability.

Excuse me if I haven't done the right research, but I have some questions.
    1. What kind of power can the stock M50 motor handle?
    2. What will it cost me to do it right the first time around?
    3. How do other drive-line parts hold up with boost? (transmission, diff, etc)
    4. Anything special needed?
    5. What do most people use for tuning? I put a standalone MegaSquirt MS3x in my Miata and love it.

I'm down to be schooled on anything and everything I need to know.

PS: Here's the Miata (dirty) and Bimmer.

It will cost more than turbocharging the Miata.

That's expected, even with the Miata being a money pit.

if you have a 328is keep that, it already has the good trans and the 2.8 which is a great motor for boost. If you are using it for roll ons and top end then it will take a beating.

to be honest the cost will vary depending on parts you use and how you acquire them. anywhere from 3k for budget builds and up from there.

you can run standalone but the obd2 computer in the 328 is a great dme to tune, Jordan from rktunes and many other tuners have tuning packages that come with maf/injectors/tune and they start everyday and run in all weather with no hiccups.

It all depends on how much power you want to make and how much you want to spend, but I would throw an mls .120 gasket with arp headstuds, s52 cams and a spa bottom mount manifold with a 35r, 17ish psi is in the 500 range and it will last If you take care of it.

your miata looks great, and the e36 looks real clean!
