Notes: The curse from @titomanlio has finally been lifted. I struggled with breaking into the sub 2:00 laptimes at @buttonwillowraceway for a couple years now. The pandemic really hampered my ability to reach it as I began to get close with constant 2:01 and some 2:00 times. I think it wasn’t the swap (+50whp) or the faster tires that made the difference (of course they certainly helped!) but the confidence in the car that allowed me to push through this barrier. Put down a couple 1:59s first session and then a 1:58 the second session. 🥃 Now to try out some other tracks!
Ran SCCA Time Trials Nationals at NCM last weekend in my Tuner 4 E36M3 and managed a new PB of a 2:19.5. There is definitely more time out there, I had been having intermittent ABS issues throughout the weekend so I was a bit conservative on the brake points, lost some time when I out braked myself into T6, and clipping the curb into the esses after sinkhole cost me a couple tenths as well. Overall still happy with the lap, just have some things to work on for next time.

Notes: First time running CCW1 @ Buttonwillow Raceway Park! While it wasn't a record or anything, it was a lot of fun trying out the track backwards and with the Star Mazda corner. It's great to be back and knocking off five months of summer rust! Always a pleasure to run into my track junky friends when I come out.

Notes: Just some track day fun in this video, best hotlap of the weekend. No new PB, but picked up a set of Kumho V730s to try out. I managed to get 1s shy of my PB, which isn't too shabby. Looking forward to seeing how these do compared to my Falken RT660
one from Friday at VIR...scroll to the 7:00 mark for a "I'm big, I'm bad, I'm..." as I attempt to hang with a zr1..as you can see in the video after about 10 minutes I finally flip the NOS switch and shut him down![]()
its an HTE-R XL, maybe the angles, but im not wider at the shoulder then the seat measurement wise arms down so to speak..
this has better arms reliefs then my old OMP WRC, lower so you can shift with out chicken winging.
I know everyone is expecting some blazing lap from an S55 swapped E30 or something... but here's some Miata content and some antics that will assuredly get you kicked out of your next HPDE. This was a private club day with the authorities informed of our intentions.

Configuration: CW
Best Lap Time: 1:28.08

Suspension: MCS 1-Way Coilovers

Other Mods: S54
Weight w/driver 1/2 tank: 2900
Notes: Now that we were able to get the power steering pump replaced after the failure a couple weeks ago, I was back at Streets of Willow. Saturday was CW which I ran for the first time and pulled off a 1:28.08. For five days on these RT660s, I'm very happy with them. Will certainly be back for more car tossing shenanigans in the future!
The NASA Northeast finale at NJMP Lightning last month. First win ever in my E36 M3 in the ST5 class - I ran Toyo RRs earlier this year but come November, they were well past their HC limit so I borrowed a set of used 12HC Maxxis RC-1s from my buddy and teammate... The Maxxis were fantastic!
Car: #44 BMW E36 M3
Track: New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) - Lightning Circuit
Best Lap Time: 1:14.9 (1:13.0 in Sunday after taking restrictor off for fun races)
Brakes: OEM M3 calipers, StopTech slotted rotors & steel-braided lines, HAWK DTC-70 Pads, RBF600
Suspension: MCS 1-Way Coilovers
Tire: 255/40/17 Maxxis RC-1 (R2 Compound - 12+ HC)
Other Mods: Stock S52 with rebuilt head, Supertech dual valve springs/retainers, 3" race exhaust, stock headers to AA pipe, M50, tune, intake, Bimmerworld TB restrictor - 220whp, 225 ft-lbs
Weight w/driver 1/4 tank: 2960
Notes: For those who aren't familiar with NASA's Super Touring (ST) series - There are different modifiers to help class cars based on their setups. The ST5 class is based on a 14.0:1 power-to-weight ratio, if you run on Hoosier R7s. If you run Toyo RRs, R888Rs, Maxxis RC1s or other 100TW tires, you get a +1.6 PW break because of the less grip potential they have = I can run more power. There was one car on Toyos in the field, but everyone else ran Hoosiers. You can see how well the BRZs and Hoosier cars perform in the braking zones. I ran without ABS so I really had to protect my position in the turns and use the power in traffic. Patryk's BRZ is an absolute weapon under brakes and he can really wheel. Going to ST4 next year (12.0:1), so another 200 lbs are coming out.

Car: E36 M3
Track: Streets of Willow (Willow Springs International Raceway)
Configuration: CCW
Best Lap Time: 1:24.01
Brakes: Coleman Racing Rotors, OEM Porsche Calipers, HAWK DTC-60/DTC-30 Pads, RBF600, Bimmerworld Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Suspension: MCS 1-Way Coilovers
Tire: 245/40/17 Kumho V730
Other Mods: S54
Weight w/driver 1/2 tank: 2900
Notes: Second time running this track Streets of Willow in the CCW configuration with Extreme Speed. Set a new personal best and shaved off two seconds from my PB in December. I'm on Kumho V730s which aren't the fastest tires, but great for setting consistent lap after lap like NT01s. I certainly need to work on my line which will come with more seat time here and faster tires. I was certainly more aggressive this time out, which helped contribute to my new PB and chasing a faster guy in an S2K with full aero also helped!
My first time out at Road Atlanta. I could only muster a 1:45.5 but know there is an easy 44 in the car. Time to try again tomorrow!
Car: E36 328
Track: Road Atlanta
Best Lap Time: 1:45.5
Brakes: PFC11 front pads, Powerstop Track Day Spec rear pads
Suspension:JRZ RS Pro
Tire: 245/40/17 Kumho V730
Weight w/driver 1/2 tank: 3100
I cranked my headrest as high as it goes today and the video does look a little better! I like the V730's and I'm glad I'm finally on a fast tire again. I'm coming from RS4's so the grip is way higher. Wear seems really reasonable after 7 sessions and they handle 15 min sessions fine. I'm not sure if they're an audible tire like the RS4; I got it to squeal a little every once in a while, but at that point I felt that I was overdriving them.
I am 99% sure I did 44's today even though I don't have any proof. My iPhone 1hz refresh rate would not trigger at the S/F so my "1:44.8" was my best approximation when I was looking at the phone screen going under the bridge.
But the guys at Synchro Design Works are super nice and awesome guys. I paddocked next to them and chatted a bunch working on my progress. They let me borrow their AIM Solo for a session and I got down an official 1:45.09. I caught traffic in 10b and didn't do T3 correctly, so I know a 1:44 is there.

Car: E36 328is
Track: Barber Motorsport Park
Best Lap Time: 1:42.27
Brakes: Stoptech C43 PFC11 (F), E46 325i PFC08 (R)
Suspension: JRZ RS One
Tire: 255/40/17 Kumho V730
Other Mods: Aero, 3.64 3 clutch LSD,
Weight w/driver: 2850 with fuel + driver
Notes: New PB at Barber in my E36. Ran a bunch of 1:43 flats throughout the weekend in traffic, went out in the happy hour and banged out several mid to low 1:42s. Still dialing in the balance of the car. Adding some more camber and going back next weekend to see if I can eek out a couple more tenths.
