NASA TT points system is the reason I run 225's. Any wider and I'd be in a different class

Two laps of Thunderbolt (NJMP) in an E36 M3. I think I broke in the 1:39s after lunch.

First time on this track, second time in this car. I've done a few green group track days in my street car before. I hope to do more track days next year.

The only safety advantage I can see for windows up is it reduces the risk of you flailing an arm out during a rollover. Or the chance of debris flying into the window in a rollover/T-bone. I have seen some California groups require Windows down but make an exception during heavy rain--I think it was one of the Porsche organizatios.

Instructor driving my car at Streets of Willow last Sunday in the CCA A group, chasing down a faster car, probably a 335is. (3-minute clip)

Driving my own car in the blended A+B group at Streets of Willow, last session of the day. Tried but failed to catch a Scion FRS.

One of the drivers in that FRS had some skills. (Pretty sure there were multiple drivers because I ran with the car but also saw it lapping in other groups).

Chasing a Challenge Stradale at COTA, finally caught up with him at the end. What a sound that car can make...

Well, we got back from the Turkey Bowl at Summit Point a couple days ago and unfortunately I only have one Cortina video to show for it. I was sharing the car this weekend, and the other driver had a bit of an incident...

In the one video I got, I am working around simultaneous understeer and oversteer due to the below-freezing track temperature, thinner wheels and tires, a new rear axle housing, new limited slip, and a bit too much tire pressure. It's also the last full session before the incident, so I'll keep it as a record.

Haven't done the Cortina video yet, but in the meantime...

This is probably one of the most exciting races I've been part of, despite it only being 4 laps long. I'm the anchor leg of a 5-leg relay race, where each leg is run by a different race group. The time differential from the previous group rolls over to the next standing start, and by the anchor leg all four teams were only a few seconds apart! I started off second but you'll have to watch to see what happens!

I don't post much here but this is from a track day at AMP on November 30th. This session had my quickest laps from the day in my '99 E36 M3:

Here's video of the Cortina's final full session before the incident. It was really making me work out there, so it should be exciting to watch! Seeing the video makes me want to get her back together and ready for battle again!

Forgot to post this earlier...one of our last races of the season(NASA Midwest/Great Lakes) @ Mid-O. Started 3rd, finished 2nd. Great battle for most of the race with my good friend, Zach. Some drama in the keyhole on the first lap.

Haven't been back to this thread in a while so the vids are a little old.

First is from NJMP Tbolt in August. A friend who does some CCA Club racing gave me a set of 3 year old, nearly heat cycled out BFG R1's. Since I have the most experience on Tbolt, I thought I'd try them there. Maybe it's because they were so old (and hard!), I wasn't overly impressed with their grip levels... especially in the lower speed stuff. Fastest time of the weekend was a 1:35 but that included being behind a really slow porshce onto the front stretch at the start of the lap. Anyway, here's a vid from that day:

Finished the 2014 track season by going to VIR for the first time (back on street tires for this event). It is as epic as advertised, folks. Tried something a little different and popped a gopro down in the footwell and synced up audio. Think the video actually turned out pretty cool. Fastest time of the weekend was a 2:18

The pedal box view is pretty neat! Glad you liked VIR, I'd like to try it someday too.

Edit: I forgot to ask why you test the brakes like Dan Gurney before every corner. Did you have brake failure at some point?

    Thanks.

Well, there's two reasons. First is that I am somewhat paranoid about a full on failure so I check them partially for that reason (to make sure the pedal isn't going straight to the floor). The second, and perhaps more applicable, is to combat pad knock back. Unfortunately my StopTech kit suffers from knock back to degree I wish I had known about prior to purchasing (... I ultimately would have gone another route like AP or PFC). The knock back gets even worse as the pads thin down. The pedal tap sets the pistons against the pads so when I jump on the brakes there's no unwanted pedal travel (which you can see at 3:49 and 6:11)

This was my first time using a gopro. It is a Hero3+, set on 720p @ 60fps on the widest lense setting. I'm not happy with how the videos came out. Sound quality isn't great, and the track is washed out and hard to see. The track being washed out might be because of the seat in the way and the camera is having a hard time focusing contrast. Any suggestions?

I see this all the time, not the camera's fault. The camera's exposure is based on average light and since most of the image is the interior of the car it will expose for that... which will result in over exposure of the outside. Since the track is the only thing that really matters go into the exposure settings and under-expose by 2/3 to 1 full stop (adjust as needed). As far as sound goes the mic tends to over-expose as well so if you set the mic down a few notches you will get better sound . Hooking up an external mic will allow you to place it out of the wind path.

    8 laps with maximum attack

    Hi guys!

It's off season here in Norway, so I'm killing some time looking back at some footage from last season.

Thought I'd share this race with you.

It's the last race of last the season and I was on full attack the whole race. Killing the last set of tires.. Hope you enjoy the vid.

don't know, I have a Drift HD Ghost and it allows me to turn down the mic

if gopro doesn't have that feature here is an external mic with volume adjustment
