My first race in my first BMW. Came from a FWD Honda, spent 3 days learning the ways of the M3. Of course, it wasn't without some "learnings"
Had to share, just found Andy Lally driving :
some quick ,smart hands,..... yikes

any comments, observations, vs your hondy?
Very different, very different indeed. The transition wasn't as bad as I thought, but there was a transition. This is a very developed car. Lots of suspension goodies, brakes that actually work, and 100hp more. Since it drives from the correct end, I have to learn to manage the throttle more than before. The Honda basically had a binary throttle. You could mash it anywhere, point the front wheels and it would go. This one requires more of a gentle touch.
It's ugly as can be now, but here is a pic from the event

great pic...........serious sunset?
alfa?.....yikes.....
The Alfa was quick. SCCA E prod car running slicks. We were evenly matched on the first day. I stepped up my game and said bubbye
Took the 328is project out to its first competition event. I set my new PB (which won class) in this final session, but on my last hot lap after fighting traffic for 15 minutes. Definitely not ideal, so its something I have to work on.
Getting better, even though video quality sucks with an unstable mount.
MSR Cresson, 1.7 mile CCW, Apex advanced group. Best lap of a 1:21.59 is 41/46 on this clip which starts at ~9:50
2001 Steel Gray MCoupe - 147,000 miles and owned since new. MCS 2WNR suspension, Hotchkiss swaybar, poly bushings all around, cat delete headers with custom tune, 3.73 LSD, and Clownshoe Motorsports rear subframe reinforcement.

First Time Trial event of the year. Never been to this track before. And this is my first timed session after scrubbing in new tires for 3 laps in the first session of the day.

I'll be back this weekend for Bimmer Challenge to go even faster....
New PB after some coaching. Getting closer to hitting that 2:00 mark but there's still some work to do. This weekend was all fundamentals.

My first race weekend in my new to me GTS2 NASA race car. The real fun begins at 12:20 when I get into a heated battle with another car.

after the coils, it feels like a new car now, time to learn. new best 2:34 old 2:38
Track not quite dry enough for trailbrake into the bus-stop. At least I remembered 'both feet in'.

2 thumbs up for both feet in!
Not as exiting, here is a lap of the Chin intermediate group at NJMP Thunderbolt two weeks ago. Notable for how I get completely dusted by a lower HP car coming out of the dragon's tail section. I think he gaps me by 2 seconds in a single corner.
My first time with Chin. They run a tight ship and the drivers are excellent (at least in the blue group).
i went from H&R sport cup kit to a ground control coilover school/race kit.
Most recent track day, been a little while. Here are a couple of video. Un-edited yet. Buttonwillow Raceway 5-26-2018

Was this that guy with the McLaren that was crying in the Driver's meeting about his experience with OnGrid? That guy was a self entitled douche.
Different car but same problem:

what club is this with? not sure if its the Chin track day guys orders or the NCM flaggers here, but they are quick with that blue flag. they would be throwing it at that ass. or the black flag.
chin is strong on the point of not holding up faster drivers in the drivers meeting. if you impede them your wrong basically. point them the inside line of corner or "racing line" get behind them and learn, haha.

Really like having the split dual coils in the back now versus true coilovers. I can now stay on the throttle over pavement changes and rough spots, and every click on the adjustments changes the feel of the car.
This enabled me to drop another couple of seconds off my PB on the 3.1 at MSR

This is a fund raiser event for March of Dimes at Road America. It's called Drive for Babies.
Took my completely stock 60,000 mile 2008 E93 out there. Had a lot of fun but found a cracked charge pipe that was causing boost issues. Original Index 7 injectors and old coils. Top speed was 130 on the front straight.
This was a couple years ago with my SBC 383 Stroker swapped RX7. (fun times at 3:55 minutes )
Look! Before our very eyes, the future is becoming the past.
Been a few events since my last post. Weather & a misfire hindered any class records to be gathered in Round #2 & 3...
And from Bimmerfest 2018... 137mph on the banking according to GPS, gear limited, no aero. Finally, a class record, just in time to take 4+ months off for Summer...
