This is something of an older write-up. The MS3-Pro doesn't need the hardware modifications he described, as the PWM outputs are already set up that way, and you don't need to worry about upgrading the firmware, either (he was doing this setup in the early days of the MS3 VVT control).

Just go with the e36 compressor...I may have one if you need one..KISS!!SIMPLE is always better!
I am running the e36 m3 compressor and it works fine on my s54 engine.

This is always the best option in my opinion too. Unfortunately all of us have to have S54s for our dailys. PM me as I have a proper solution

Run a Z3 cluster which has CANBUS functionality. This is what BMW did on the S54 and M54/M52TU Z3's.
