Honestly, I am blown away that someone could let it get this bad. Parts are finally on their way so I can fix this. It took 2 whole days for the supplier to get everything together, that's how much parts are on the way.

Ahh yeah, I've seen that box. Good luck with it. Are you taking the water pump off or going in from the coolant accumulator side?

Only issue I had when I did mine a couple years ago was I had a couple valley pan bolts break on me. Make sure you guys put a little anti-seize on your bolts. It was a bear to get them out, luckily the threads in the block were okay and I didn't have to heli coil them.

I broke one bolt as well.

I plan on going from the accumulator side. The water pump/t-stat/housing was changed a few months before I got it.

Yes, it's supposed to be 'a' 540 M-sport, but I long ago learned to auto-correct things like that in my head unconsciously whilst reading on the internet - otherwise I'd go totally bonkers after about 5 minutes...The faster you read it, the less the spelling errors stand out.

So it begins... I decided to change the knock sensors, they'll be here on Monday hopefully. I was told that there was about a quart of oil in the intake manifold. To be honest, this is probably one of the worst PCV failures I have ever seen.

How did you clean everything out? I know the intake will need to be cleaned while off but what about everything else?

Actually, I swapped the intake for one I got in the junkyard that was clean already. I also got a set of injectors off ebay ($90 for Bosch Design III's), so those and the seals were new. Also new PCV plate, so everything else was gaskets at that point. Sorry.

I'll have to run fuel injector cleaner thru it for now. Needless to say, it's going to run extremely well when it's done.

It's done finally. I ended up getting a few other parts fixed on it as well. Since the cooling system was recently overhauled except the radiator hoses, those were replaced and the system was flushed and filled with BMW blue coolant. The knock sensors were replaced as well as the throttle cable. Smooth gas pedal operation now. I got the alarm fixed but will never never ever use it because of how temperamental the thing can be. As long as the OBC works, it's all good.

Now on to some other stuff to fix
