Update - good chance it will work. The ISN read job appears to be the same on DME 5.2. Please try and let us know if it works.

So you just use the INPA scripts as a guide to create such a program? It was a very good idea.

Tried this out on a 98 m3 yesterday. First time I used a generic 20 pin to OBD2 cable from eBay and a obd2 to serial cable. I got it to read and write the ISN successfully but the car wouldn't start. I think it's probably because we didn't wait 15 seconds before we tried to start it. So we tried again using the 20 pin to obd2 and a blue Vagcom cable. Car started right up.

Today i I decided to put a charger on my 97 328 and a charger on my laptop and have some fun experimenting. I got the 20 pin to obd2 obd2 to serial to work first try. Then I tried the 20 pin to obd2 and a k-DCAN cable. This one I had some trouble with but I used a program called MPROG to change the settings on the kdcan chip and it worked great. If you've used MPROG you know that there are a bunch of drop down menus that you can select like SLEEP or POWRON. I changed all those drop downs to blank then program the chip with the new settings and it worked. NEXT I tried 20 pin to obd2 obd2 to serial and iplugged that into a PROLIFIC USB/serial adapter. That also worked great.

I will ill say that any time I had it connected to the serial port on my laptop I had to make sure the serial port was using COM1

my laptop is a DELL D620 running Winxp SP3 I've also used this with the serial port on a Dell Lattitude CPx.

I installed a used Mechatronic (Inside the transmission) on my E70 (2009/X5/4.8L V8).
Now the immobilized kicked in and won't let the car start.
Will this software help sync the EWS on the tranny computer ?(EGS) ? Thanks!
The error codes I get are :
    1) EGS - CF37 : Message from CAS on K bus incorrect
    2) EGS - 5123 : Immobilizer in transmission control disables

No, not this software at all. You need dealer or dealer software.

I don't think DIS is current enough for this E70. DIS is for the old cars.

I would try to look through INPA. You might need to code (NCSExpert) the replaced module, or flash it with WinKFP.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it
I have INPA, but the E70 profile never worked for me. I tried to install from various daten files with no success
I can read error codes etc by using the profile for E90

My NSCexpert is working and i can code away any module in the E70. Never used WinKFP

Well i couldn't wait I've tested yesterday and i confirm it seems to be working perfectly, it reads from my DME and write to the EWS .... But the car still cranking all the time and never starts...

FYI I've tested/changed all and everything, fuel pump, fuses, and relays are OK, I didn't code or program anything the car was working fine until i disconnect the battery for about 1 month.. then no way to get the car started.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Check the crank position sensor, it's on the bottom of the bellhousing.

INPA, Tool32, or DIS. With an ADS compatible interface.

I purchased my 2002 BMW 530i from a buddy. So I went down to his house to pick it up and had to jump start it. So I drove it home and parked it put a battery charger on it and decided to try and mess with the key fob since it was a ball of electrical tape so that the buttons would work at unlocking the doors. Now car has a no crank no start issue which I think is due to EWS3 and key out of sync. I really have no more extra money to go to this issue. Is there a way to delete the immobilizer?

This isn't even nearly a little on topic to what the original thread is about. On your car, I would give it a scan first, with a BMW type scanner. It can be a few things. If you broke your key, deleting the immobilizer (from the Engine control unit) will still not solve the problem that your key and ews do not match. EWS module allows the starter to actuate. You probably could go on and delete even more things, but ideally you can just fix what is broken for a little cheaper.

    Hello,

I am working on a s52 swap into a 318ti currently (engine and chassis both 1999) . I am getting close to finishing all my install and wiring. I am wondering if you could give me some info on the software you developed. I looked through the original thread you started on this titled "EWS sync without installing EDIABAS/INPA/DIS using a $10 vagcom cable" The thread is so long its hard to follow. I have a 20 pin connector already, just not sure of which vagcom cable I need and where I can get the software. Also would like to confirm I can syn everything up using this hardware and software. It would really halp me out and save me the trouble of towing to my nearest BMW dealership, which is 35 km's away.

    Regards,
    318dude
