Hmm, I can't figure out what the point is with this program..? Why just not install INPA? It takes about 20 seconds to load it and sync the ews, and you can use it for many other things like reading the fault codes, live data, clear service lights etc...

As mentioned in a few previous posts, the app appears to do nothing, however I believe that it is not communicating with the DME.
i have INPA loaded and can see the EWS and some other modules but no data from the DME. I think this is the cause of my and the other posters problems.
i cannot see a log file, thinking the app needs the DME comms before it writes this.
just a thought but is there any numbers on the DME label that will allow the ISN code to be input through INPA into the EWS.

So, I have a 1998 328 with an M3 engine and harness. It is running with the 328 DME. I want to use the M3 DME that came with the engine. Is the software sorted to the point of being able to install the M3 DME and have the car start?

This worked for me too. Though it said EWS sync unsuccessful numerous times, I thought what the hell, I'll try it and to my delight it started right up afterwards and runs flawlessly.

hi gpeterson you have made really nice little program... it works with an ads/obd cable in obd mode... when you are in ads mode it just freezes when you push the read button...
but i have some other question: Why i can't see your ews delete thread which is the first in your signiture?it says i do not have permission to see it? because i'm too new or it's because just few people can read it?
sorry for the off-topic
Is the link on the first page of this thread still the current version? (v1.0.0.0)

Cool. I hadn't been keeping up with the thread, so figured I'd ask.
I have an EWS1 motor and ecu, and an EWS2 chassis, is this what I need to sync my EWS? or can I just clip some wires?
I don't think there is anything to sync with EWSI, I'd check the threads on disabling it. You can probably leave your EWSII module in place and still have the protection of disabling the starter assuming you have matching keys.

I do have matching keys, but figured the chassis or EWS2 module will be looking for a EWS2 signal from the DME which will not be present. There is so much conflicting information on the subject that it is almost impossible to do a good search. I was hoping I could just re align it with software, since it seems better than cutting a harness up.
Not true. I had car with EWS3 module. Then I swapped engine and DME for M52 from car with EWS2. Then just opened DIS (running on vmware) and clicked to "align dme ews" and everything worked. So it could be done even if ews2 is something completely different than ews3.
Now I am going to swap engine and dme from some other also from ews2 car and I will try to sync it first with this application. I will post results!
