Probably not, looks like Motronic 1.7 uses K line for TX and L line for RX. You would likely need a pc with a real COM1 serial port and ADS interface to use with DIS or Tool32 (recommended).
With Tool32 you would run the isn_lesen for motronic 1.7 and feed the value into isn_schreiben for EWS.

Thanks a lot ! It worked like a charm. It gave me a check engine at first (4a63 BMW Fault Code EWS Tampering or EWS Manipulation) but erased it and never came back.

Unfortunately my key is still not recognized and the car wont even crank
You may want to check the wiring for the ring antenna, transmitter/receiver module (if present on your car), and park/neutral or clutch switch unless you have reason to believe something happened to your key. INPA would be helpful to see what your EWS and DME are thinking. The EWS has a relay that will interrupt the starter unless the key matches and it thinks the car is in park/neutral or clutch pushed in.

I am 12 months into my issues that I have outlined earlier. One thing i thought to post/query is - does the difference in being manual or auto make a diff with this terrific little app?
Reason I ask is; I have 2x 328i verts; one manual, one auto. I mixed up the ews modules at one stage and then ended up with both having conflicting signals. My DD was unable to be driven for 2 wks while I sought a solution, downloaded INPA etc and no success until I tripped over this program. It did not respond to my auto- write to ecu conf.. but it did to my manual!. I am back in the same place again with the auto..trying to start it and will not write to the ecu (both cars are Siemens MS41.0.
I bought a Julie emulator but got bogged down in the technical side some time back...not an easy solution it appears if you are not coding proficient.
The car originally ran A1 as it has only 60kmiles on it but I have to push it to move it and I am tiring of the issue!
any input much appreciated on both issues..the Julie and the diff between auto/manual.

So i have finally got the program on windows 10. It only allows com port 3 regaurdless of which port vag com is in than when you hit read isn it just freezes does nothing and i cant get inpa to properly install to see if dme has vin and can be read. I do have CEL on

I have .NET framework 4.7 but the install wizard says I need 3.5. When I try to skip .NET installation the wizard just shuts down. Anyone else have this issue?

Of course it can be done with inpa too. But your tool is much more convenient.
ps: the last 4 digits of the dme production number are equal to the ISN. Must be converted to hex and if >4096 (decimal) need to subtract 4096 first

So I have a 1995 e36 M3 with a suspected unaligned ews2 and DME. With the proper cabling and a windows laptop will this software work for my car. It is obd1 with ews2
