Using E34 CD Players in E39 Tourings?

I recently bought a '99 528iT with the original cassette player and radio, no NAV. My question is whether the rear CD player from an E34 can be made to work without major changes to the wiring? Yes, I have an iphone, but it seems that the Dice and other systems aren't fail safe yet, nor as easy to install as I'd like.

No.

The E34 had M-bus radios while the E39 had I-bus. Just get an I-bus CD changer or, better yet, an mp3 changer. They're plug-n-play.

If you're looking for a more reliable digital music solution than iPod/Dice, they do exist. Do a search.

Thanks, I didn't know the difference between the M bus and I bus. I'll look for an I bus CD changer. I am not so much a techie that I know of any more reliable solutions that Ipod/Dice, searching brought me to Dice. As I am using a iphone, and refuse to buy a ipod, I'll see what options there are to eventually connect the iphone to the car.

Well, I'd suggest Grom or USA Spec. There's also a BMW factory interface (see your dealer).
