That is exactly what I am doing, because it will go out sooner or later and in many cases it is already cracked but still somewhat functional.

Great upgrade, right up there with changing the Transmission oil.

Several people at Wrenchfest #2 were interested in this repair and process. I bought a set. They work. Bump.

Bought one this week, it was delivered very quickly. My door handle is starting to go out, going to try and take care of it tomorrow.

I would but, unfortunately, the "compose" key on my email machine is still busted. Parts are on back order.
Good news, the "reply" key works like new.
    So...
if you could perhaps/maybe use the contact information provided in the post just previously...

I found your timely published "How To Fix" info on repair of the driver's side exterior door handle...the problem I currently enjoy on my car - - I cannot open the driver's side door from the outside. The inside handle works ok. Is this fix for my car?

The article mentions reference to a kit. Is there such an item that could be acquired or better yet, does anyone know of a repair facility in the Southern California area, that could fix my door handle? Any suggestions are appreciated.

This is not a difficult repair if you want to do it yourself. If you don't you could get any mechanic or body shop to do it.

I got my kit and just ordered door gaskets. I'm hoping to tackle this on the CSi in the next couple weeks. I calculate about 2-3 hrs work per side from start to finish? Does that sound about right?

Probably 2 hours on the first side, half that on the second. Just fiddly little land mines can make it bad: losing the small screws behind the inner door handle, breaking the fragile plastic connectors on the many wiring sockets, etc. The wires between the door frame and door card are not lengthy, so it helps to have a second person hold the door card when you reconnect everything. Make sure you have good lighting, and follow Hyper’s directions – it will all go well.

Gotcha, thanks for the input. I just wanted to get a ballpark of how much time to allocate for the project.

    Dear CD05001CIA ,

    Why are you so upset,
It is called competion, and you are comparing apples to oranges,
I Started my e31 Door Handles over 2 years ago. At that time I read that Hyper was retiring. I did not need to get his permission.

Have you seen were he is still in business?

Why are you such an angry person, were you post your anger, with never mentioning your real name, an you just hide behind your alias.

In fact if you were to really read both of our services, Hyper used to sell a DIY Kit, and he did not post his prices on line.

Wereas I do not have a DIY product, I include the install of my product into the clients DH. (Apples to Oranges).
And I am not afraid of posting my Prices.
In fact I rebuild 17 different products and have been of Service to Bimmer Forums for over 10 years, and I have websites to help even DIYers with my Tutorials.

You should not post while DRUNK.

Since its always been about community service, keeping cars on the road, I don't mind other solutions doing the same.
In fact it takes the pressure off, makes me less obligated to keep owner's cars working.
I think it's kinda odd though, running a pivot swap service, because most of total handle project is extracting the assembly and putting it back in.
And isn't the vehicle down while the assembly is in transit?

I did take a 1 year off while changing houses to SoCal, but have been back in for some time and make 'em whenever people ask.
No I don't have a website, no I am not on Facebook, no I don't sell on eBay.
People know where to find me. Hint: 8pivotalMoments at gmail.
Have shipped about 600 pieces, all at the same original price that shall not be named (on BF).

'so upset?' yet another development time waster, who doesn't know Stow High In Transit.

'still in business (hobby)...' well yes.

Do the other 16 and come up with solutions that don't already have one.
