If its on the lower end of expected cost I'd be in. To spend near $500 for some gauges would be a tough pill to swallow for me though.

    - 98 m3, techno/anthrazit cloth, 124k and officially worthless - 89 m3, alpine/black 143k and officially old - 2000 323it, tiag/grey, 169k and officially boring

Definitely interested depending on the price.. Although if its pricey... I'd look towards a Stack cluster, not that I need one.. Haha.

I put the idea aside because I had too many other things going on and this one required more cash up front for the manufacturing. Sounds like there is still a bit of interest, I may finish my prototype and try using Kickstarter.

What about doing something along these lines for the E36? I know it doesn't look nearly as cool as the Alpina option, but maybe it's a bit more feasible.

This link is for the E46, but you can by the screen alone without the vent.

Are you kidding? At the right price, you could sell a crap ton of these. Track guys wouldn't have to obstruct their exit path with anything on the A-pillar or dangerously look away from the road course at gauges. Street guys wouldn't have to loose their sunglass/ ipod cubby etc. Hope they work out.

Don't give up just yet. I can tool AND mold the bezel/housings right here at my shop in AZ. I'd love to have this for my car as well.

Aluminum tooling will be fine with PC/ABS, and I can build in one of my existing prototype mold bases to save a few bucks.

Get in touch with me so I can take a look at the 3D models (if you have them).

It's not quite as glamorous as the Alpina setup, but I'm fairly proud of the display I made.
