I almost did the rb26dett swap in the m3 too! But I have never seen a vq35 in a e36.

I will be running as well. Phillip and I drove all the way out there to find it was closed last night. So mow I will be itching to race everything on the street. School busses, cops, delivery trucks, wont matter. 3 honks to everyone.

If a block with a blown head gasket that was also seriously over heated till the head was seriously warped and the intake cam cover was burnt was sitting for 2 to 3 yrs be clogged up? Meaning, the coolant, oil passages, oil pump and oil filter assembly be clogged up. What can be used to clean it up if possible.?

Thanks. What about the oil filter assembly? It's a 328 though. Should I get a m3 version?

Oil filter housing does not make any difference but if you wanted an all metal one or E46M3 one it would be easiest to change when reinstalling the rebuilt motor.

Different filters though. For what its worth, M/S50 and S52/54 oil filter housings (metal cap) use the 51160 which is better built (steel end caps, steel core, and 85 pleats) vs. the M52/tu or M54 housing (plastic threaded cap) with the 51223 (plastic end caps, no core, and 70 pleats).

My 2008 M3 has a plastic filter housing and no metal end caps on the filter. Good enough for a $25k motor.

My 328 filter housing has done good by me. No need for fancy coolers in NE unless tracking the car.

Have too many other projects right now to pay for and finish before the turbo. Also really like this turbo and still trying to figure out what I will be giving up and what would be the new turbo.

Wait .. selling SC? What's next? Another E36 or you moving to a different platform?

Probably not another E36. Looking to try something different, don't wanna spend all of the time building a car to end up with the same thing. I've got a few crazy ideas, we'll see what lands.
