I’d meditate on that question.
Permitting can be a pain in some places. Maybe buy a house with a bigger garage — you will likely pay more property taxes but no need to worry about permits and the cost can be financed through a 30 year mortgage or whatever term you want rather than cash or a shorter term loan or a refinance for the garage addition to the present house. If a working garage is important enough, do it. For me, it is. The one I am doing now should be pretty fancy. I wanted a nice garage before I was too old to use it. My main hobbies are working on the cars and the properties.
Ok it’s not BMW but, Can someone help me turbo this?

Work in progress. Hope to be working in it in a month. Have 4 post lift, floor tiles and cabinets/benches on a trailer.
I thought about doing epoxy on my garage but you can buy a lot of speedy dry for $1000

It’s wood. Can’t epoxy wood floor reliably so it will be pvc garage interlocking tile. This is a 2 story carriage house with dirt floor basement under and attic above the 2nd story. Floor is reinforced with steel beams under the 2x10 joists so I am ok with 4 post lift. If it was concrete, I might have gone with 2 post lift again and epoxy on the floor.
Nice looking space, might have to share more in depth over at www.garagejournal.com
Still waiting...

THE TIME DRAWS NEAR!
Flexible pvc, sort of rubber like. About 18x18 inches and 1/4” thick. Each one weighs about 4 lbs. Waterproof seal. Not cheap.
Where is BUtters?
He is busy with projects and not on the forums much anymore. I stop by his shop every few weeks. He helped me sort out a brake issue on my 08 535xi wagon last weekend. He is having fun playing with his tig welder and also just built an M52 into an S52 with aftermarket rods and pistons and S52 crank for a customer.
