All gauge's on dash dead 1998 528i

All my dashboard gauges were dead fuel ,speedo and temp.Found the anwser on another thread for the 3 series.I was able to fix the problem by pushing in the milage trip reset button and then turning ignition key to aux position. This fixed the problem. Just wanted to let people know because when reviewing threads on this problem people were offering more involved and expensive fixes, try this first

My problem is..Only the odometer, speedo doesn't work and brake,abs and hazard lights are on. My fuel, rpm's and temp all work. What do you think it could be?
