hello, just trying to scare up some activity on the Z3 board. If anyone is just lurking out there, sign up and post, this is the best board available (in my humble and grossly biased opinion). I've been on this forum a while and just bought my first bimmer, a 2000 Z3 2.3, and i love it!
if anyone out there has a Z3 or is thinking about buying one, just drop a line in here... we'll be happy to answer any questions you've got or discuss anything else that might be on your mind... (i gotta stop, i'm starting to think i actually picked something up in all those marketing classes i took, and its scaring me!)
anyway, come on out people!

Hi,
I also have a 2000 2.3 Z3 Topaz Blue which is pretty much loaded with all the xtras! Have ~5100 miles on it and LOVE the car!
I'm currently looking to detail the car in the spring and am thinking about using the Zaino products as I'm not too happy with carnauba wax due to it's lack of lasting power! Any experience you could share would be greatly appreciated!
Shastamutt
wow... thats WAAAAY out of my league, but I'll see what I can do. I have heard excellent things about the zaino products and know a lot of people who use them. I don't "detail" all that often (its pointless out here...wash-vac-wax is all you can do), but I have traditionally used mcGuires (sp?) products (we use them on my brother's street/show mustang, and have never had any problems, but the paints are undoubtedly different).
and re: your car... NICE! mine is missing some significant options (LEATHER), but i got it CPO at a good price, so it wasn't too bad. (and the hardtop clinched the sale).... only 5100miles in 2 years... me htinks you need to get out more!... just kidding, it must not be your only car though.
welcome and thanks for posting, we'll see if we can answer this wax question here.

It takes a few bucks to get everything at first but it lasts for a long time. Order z1, z2, z6, z7 and follow the tips on their website.
If you prefer to pay by credit card you can call and order from Ekler's at 800-327-4868.
I start by washing the car with Dawn and then using 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, washing the car again and then proceding with Zaino. Then wash the car again with the Zaino wash to get the streaks off.
Zaino products go on very easy and come easy, almost too good to be true.
Well, I had a good link to a sight that did a comparison of a whole lot of waxes, including some waxes that cost upwars of $125, and some as low as $10. In the end the wax that out lived the most expensive, and the cheepest, was Zaino Z2. Zaino repelled water the best, and kept the shine sparkeling. You can also go to this sight called "waxtest.com" but unfortunately they are redoing the sight, and it is not up yet. If you need basic how to wax your car, I can help you with that too. Zaino has some good tips on there webpage, and if you are really desperate you can actually call them, and you will speak with someone in charge who knows what they are doing and can help you wax your car like a pro. I am currently using MeGuiars Gold Class liquid wax, and I my car sparkeles (and just to let you know, it finished last in the wax test I read). But my car shines with this stuff on, it does not repell water as well as It should, but it is great stuff. All in all, you cannot go wrong with a wax. And a bottle is only going to cost around $12-$15, and it will last a fairly long time, so don't be afraid to use alot of it, hell, I cannot seem to use mine fast enough.
Here is Zaino's webpage. Deffinetly go to the waxing directions, and stay away from the real expensive stuff until you are really good at waxing your car, and you know what you want to get out of your wax.
Basic break down though is higher gloss = shorter life and more expensive at the same time... Zaino kind of breaks that because they are all synthetic, so they can provide an unholy shine while lasting a long time too... Hope this helped.

I used to use Mother's Carnuba & then I went to Mother's Reflections. I visited
thewaxtest.com
& according to their site the P21S was the best. They reate Zaino B- if I recall correctly, and they were flamed and even threatened.
Anyway, I bought this P21S they recommended, and they were right, it blows away the Mother's and lasts long too!

Really?
The last couple times I have visited the sight, it has always said comming soon...

Thanks for all the answers you guys gave me! Thanks for the links too.
I've heard that the P21S was good stuff however I think it's also a carnauba wax. I think I'll go with the Zaino!

Well, when you eventually get around to waxing your car and making it shine, don't forget to give us some pics, we would love to see your ride, and hear how you felt the waxing went.Originally posted by shastamutt

Ok, I registered!
I like this type of UBB board very much, more than roadfly's format.
I'm a recent Z3 owner, I took delivery of my 97 in november, drove it about 7 times then stored it 'till April 1st...
Well, in the meantime I'm checking out forums for mods and info on this great car!
