Talking Miller WAR Machine - High compression S50 Build

Hey guys, before you shoot me down for it not being a true blood M3, it is the engine that really matters - to me anyway.

The car started off as a 325i but I quickly upgraded and modified some things to make it better. The goal with the car is to have a nice high HP and torque NA engine. It will be 11.5:1 compression which is perfectly safe for pump gas and it will feature some of our cams that Paul Burke manufactures for us. I am hoping to hit 300 - 320 WHP under 7500 and about 265 - 275 Wheel Torque.

Here is the car as it sat when I bought it for 1300 bucks!!!

I did some cosmetic upgrades to make it look much better than a 325 and some would say it looks better than a stock M3...

The Wheel well was cut out so that A custom rear diffuser can be fitted...

I have a ton more pictures that you can see on the cars blog, www.e36warmachine.com if you want to see the blabbering about all the details.

As for the engine, I finally got that back together last week...

    Specs:

    S50B30 US Spec
    Miller 87mm 11.5:1 Compression Pistons
    Miller/Burke custom cams - 235.7@.050 430L intake / 228.5@.050 451L exhaust
    Miller WAR Chip
    Eagle Rods
    ARP Hardware
    Elring w/Oring setup
Electric water pump with secondary block entry
    Eventual 75 - 100 shot of N2O
    Stock ports, just valve job...

Degree'ing the cams to get a 117.5 Center line for the intake and 108.5 center line for the exhaust. This will give me a nice frumputy idle around 850 but if I raise the idle to 1100 it will smooth out. I want it rough though :P

The oil pan is coated with a nice thermal dispersant so that it sheds heat easier. Makes a nice difference in temps on intake tubes etc so I am eager to see how well it works for the oil pan.

I chopped the impeller off the water pump since I am going with an electric Davies Craig unit. I don't have time to make a nice block off plate so for now, this had to do.

Got the Fidanza fly wheel on,

Followed by the ever trusty clutchmaster FX400 6 puck...

Ready to drop in all as one...

Special TCM knob installed that matches the interior better... I am holding the "stock" switch knob our WAR Chip comes with.

Thanks. No need for solid lifters. I did however need to get some better springs in there. The medium stiffness supertechs since to be exact as their lightest ones are actually a tad worse than stock if you actualky measure their pressures.

Killer build! Did you go with their titanium retainers as well?

Who's going to tune the car,,,,,,

    I kid.

Actually, I was not aware that the WAR chip was capable of switching between four different pre-stored tunes until I was reading up on it on your web page. How did I miss this before? In for results!

Without headwork and large duration/lift cams, I don't know if your powergoals are realistic. GL anyhow.

The compression and cams will be enough. The intake to the throttle body will be the cork.

I have a full 3.5" intake and throttle body set up to fit on.

However, we will see how she goes

Mark my words on this, the compression itself isn't making any power, the bottle neck will be how much air you can force into the engine. I don't know headflow numbers, but I'm betting the M/S5X engines flow above the 200cfm that the M52 manifold maxes out at.

We've seen an S52 with a similar configuration do 320 HP and 285 Torque using the M50 manifold.

Not trying to argue with you, just stating what I have seen and what my goals are with this car.
