    Axis Powers - 2JZ E30 Drift Build -

Figured I would finally make a thread about the car. I've had it around a year now, and its undergone some major changes. Its been tuned by AirFed (Hans Morris) and myself on the street up to 20psi on E85 and 15psi on 93. Should make anywhere between 500-600whp on the E85, but I've yet to dyno it and see.

Old picture of the engine bay before modifications

I plan to keep this thread updated, I may revise some of the mods here after a while, just felt like posting this up for everyone to see that there is a good running heavily modified 2JZ swapped e30 in the states. More vids to come in the next couple of months!

From when I first got it, some small things I was fixing.
Fixed the horn (was rusted near the connections, soldered a new connector on)
Trans shifter gasket was blown, made one out of some good material from a local company
Built my own tilt for the steering wheel
Replaced the bad BKR6E plugs with 7's. The 6s were way to hot for the amount of boost I am running.
Had a brand new driveshaft made with 1310 Chevy Ujoints.
    Replaced the RC550s with ID1000s
FPR Crapped out so replaced with Aeromotive A1000
    E36 Steering rack swap
Removed the muffler, running straight pipe now, sounds so wicked

Made brackets for power steering, and had to get a belt to match.

The OEM 2JZ power steering pump has a reservoir on top of the pump. Well my throttle body is too big, so I had to modify it to make it work. Its mounted 90* to the right, and is being gravity fed by the bmw reservoir. Nothing a few trips to bearing service cant fix!

    February 7th 2012:
Installed Xcessive Solid Trans Mount after modifying the trans cross member. This made a noticable difference in how the car lays the power to the ground. Before, the stock mount was squishy and allowed way to much movement in the driveline. Now it is solid, and the vibrations at higher RPMs arent that big of an issue, they are tolerable.

Things to add to the list of mods:
    SS Brake lines
    RX7 Caliper upgrade
Condor Solid Subframe bushings with risers, RTABS, and Diff mount.
    SLR High Angle Kit

Hey Jacob, thanks for posting up your E30 finally! Are you going to compete this year? Looking forward to driving with you!

This car is nuts guys.... super lag monster ballerness other fad words etc. JDM etc.

Did you do the fuel system yourself? I need to do fuel cell, lines, big pump, etc. for E85 later this year. Might have to pick your brain a bit.

Hey Mike, I doubt ill be competing, as I still have the responsibility of running our 13 events this year here in Shreveport, LA. I will be attending some Texas events though, such as LSB, as long as I can afford it!

Thanks for the kind words, hoping to resolve the lag issue asap lol. The car just got a cage and is getting a few more mods. Im sick of drifting on stock suspension, with this power level its very hard to control.

As far as the fuel system, what are you trying to accomplish? Whats your current setup, what fuel do you use, and what is your power goal on E85? Fuel cell mounting is easy, and so is running the lines. As far as a fuel pump, look into a single Bugatti Veyron Fuel pump. They are $299 and they flow a shit ton. Perfect for ID1000s or larger.

Looking to run ID1000s on E85 and max out my turbo, which should be right around 700 wheel.

I've never been savvy/confident building SS lines and having them not leak... I guess that's the biggest hurdle lol.

Right now I'm stock tank/hardlines/rail with drop in injectors and an aeromotive 340 on a mix of 93 and C16 @ 23-24 psi ~600-620 whp

All you need is 1 Veyron Fuel pump and -8 fuel lines feeding your ID1000s. Base pressure at ~50psi and you should be good for 700whp on E85. I'm looking to get a 6266 with a Veyron Pump as well.

I jacked the car up and was able to move the subframe up and down with my hands. Those bushings are beyond blown. Diff mount has a huge crack in it allowing it to flex. The RTABs are dry rotted. So I've ordered a few parts from Condor Speed Shop. They wont be in for a few weeks but I ordered the subframe bushings with risers, RTABS, and diff mount.

My stock brakes lines on the passenger side have swollen, not allowing the caliper to depress, thus making the caliper stick and cause the car to pull to the right. So, new SS brakelines on the way as well, anyone have an opinion on the Ireland Engineering ones?

Anyone else have any problems with their diff mounting bolts backing out? Mine get loose after a few hard drifts, I guess I could red thread lock it...

Hey hope you don't mind me asking but how does the car cope with all the extra weight over the front of the car? I have been thinking about putting a 1jz in my e30 but have been scared about the added weight. Just hoping you can ease my mind a little bit. The car seems to be working really well for you and good job with the swap! As much as i love bmw engines i love seeing non bmw swaps because i know it pisses off purists

I've driven an e30 with the stock motor is it, and I've driven mine. Mine is a bit snappier but I plan to overcome that with more rear grip. It slides very fast, but I can definitely notice that it likes to snap around more than a stock motor e30. Overall, it's not that big of a deal, and it can be fixed by suspension tuning.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Unfortunately I blew my seals on the Turbo. So its time to upgrade or rebuild, depending on funds of course.

Lots of stuff going on. Pretty much decided to tear the car completely apart and rebuild the entire cars harness from engine, to chassis, to interior. Also rebuilding the subframe with Condor subframe bushings with risers, diff mount, and trailing arm bushings, ECS tuning SS brake lines, and Xcessive solid trans mount. Removed hvac, installing carpet, deck lid, shifter boot, panels, etc. New digital tach, new ebc, installing haltech IACV, new catch can setup with dual -10AN lines, coilpack relocation, coolant hose relocation, vacuum line relocation, fmic relocation, new vbands, fixing oil and coolant leaks, etc etc. Probably forgot a lot of stuff but that's the jist of it.

Got the subframe out with the help of my friend Mark. He practically did it himself while I was at work. What a good friend. Took about 2 hours and the hardlines weren't really an issue at all.

Time to install the Condor Subframe riser bushings, diff bushings and RTABs. As well as some SS brake lines. Can't wait!

A buddy of mine (Hans Morris aka Airfed) who has been helping me tune my car recently attempted to swap in a CD009 6 speed trans from a 350Z into his IS300. It is a custom setup that has worked before, and he was just trying to adapt it to an IS300, but without a lot of Transmission tunnel modification, it just wasn't going to work. Since it will not work, and he doesn't want to cut into the car, we have decided to put the transmission into my car instead.
I've already broken one R154 and the current one I have is already on its way out. So I'm going to run it till it blows, or until I get this kit together.

Link to his thread - http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-f...sion-swap.html

Now to start with my portion of the trans build. Here's the formula.
    2006 G35 CD009 6 speed Transmission
    Adapter Kit (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2JZGTE-2JZ-1...cda30d&vxp=mtr)
    Clutch release bearing adapter: http://collinsadapters.com/index.php...and-cd009.html
    Nissan slip yoke http://collinsadapters.com/index.php...-slipyoke.html
    One Piece custom Driveshaft
    Bell housing 1/2" mill
    Custom Shifter
    Tranny mount adapter
    Miscellaneous Bolts

Currently we have the CD009 Trans. On the left is a W58 on the right is the CD009

Left is CD009 right is W58 (My 600+whp VRT Jetta in the background lol)

Here is the 2JZ to CD009 Adapter plate

Going to work on getting the rest of the kit, and possibly instead of using the colins clutch setup I may just have my own made, but we will see. Id like to get my hands on a twin disc.

This will be on the back burner for a little while till I get the rest of the parts ready, so stay tuned!

Tranny is dirt cheap. Brand new is $1600. Used is anywhere from 500-800.
