Installed one of these and must say, the factory part should have been this piece. Works great, thought I would share. Glad to see a replacement cup holder that works in the stock location.

How does it differ from the stock piece?
OP, could you post some pictures? That lone picture on the website isn't cutting it, lol.
^ Ninja posted that, haha
Post some pictures and such when you receive it, I'm very interested in seeing this. The picture on the website doesn't show much.
Looks like its just a larger cup holder that will fit in the factory position and has some rubber isolators to prevent drinks from spilling over.
Slightly OT - Origin, what's your relationship to the guys out of Salt Lake? Anything? Your website doesn't have a ton of info. Thanks.
Not much diff than stock and damn sure not worth 40 bucks imop
Out of curiosity, where did you glean the connection? Do you know Josh and Will?
It's a direct relationship. I have known the guys out there for 10+ years. This product was developed between the same people that developed the Eurosport Twin Screw (Josh from Eurosport and Will from Crossroads out of SLC).
To each his own. Aftermarket stock replacements cost the same amount as this part and this one works a thousand times better and fits in the stock location. I can't even think of a cup / can the stock part will house without it tipping over in a turn. That's obviously the opinion of someone that developed the part to replace something that we believed was woefully dysfunctional.
I've had one in my car for over a year and haven't found a cup it won't hold (at least that I want to drive around with).

What about this piece:

They are selling it for the e36 but I believe it is a e36z part (part number: 51168413622)
titanium silver 99 e36 m3 coupe. Konis/H&R sports and random other little things. For sale. 79k miles clean $11,750.
Yeah. That's the factory part for some pre-1997 (non-modular style) E36s.
I actually bought one for one my E36s and it works very well for cans, but anything with a tapered bottom (like fast food cups) will sit very high with a high center of gravity.
A key design point of the OE Cup Holder is that it allows the bottom of pretty much any cup to rest on the base of the cup holder and supports the cup at the highest possible point (the rim of the cup holder) to prevent tipping.
I've been a little curious about this one- it also comes in grey. Anybody know about how it suits? http://store.uucmotorwerks.com/cup-h...lack-p557.aspx

that looks stock to me. it looks like the oe modular cup holder. if so, you will need to cut off the bottom of the cup holder for even a can of soda to fit snug. i used a dremel

Can't post pictures on the OE account yet, but here are a few prototype photos. I will have a blog post up soon on the development of the part:
