1987 BMW 635CSi Euro Project Thread

I needed to own one of these ever since I saw one at Le mans last year and I've finally found the one for me!!

It's a 1987 in delphin grey and it's in ridiculously good condition for its age considering the weather in the UK. Solid underneath and amazing panels and paint!

It's on the original BBS TRX metric wheels and has leather interior.

I can't believe how smooth it is to drive and the auto box is amazing!

So far I've fixed a leaky window seal, got the aircon button to stop sticking, changed the oil + filter, headlights bulbs, air filter and gave it a damn good clean!

I've already received loads of help off here so thanks a lot for that!

Thanks guys!! It's a brilliant community you've got going on here!

This is my secondary obsession at the moment my true love is my 200SX (380bhp 400lbft)!!

But the 6er is racing up to a very close second! Underneath is rock solid but the bushes and joints have seen better days so will all be getting swapped out for new.

And it's your wheels that are on the wrong side!

    Welcome to the club.

Soon enough you will allow the Nissan to gather dust while your E24 grows on you. Have you done the double take yet after parking as you begin to walk away.

Haha sorry didn't know if there might be some appreciation for it I'll refrain from mentioning it again! :P

Double take?? I pretty much walk backwards away from it!

I've dropped lucky with the reg plate too, that's the cars original plate that conveniently says 635!!

I'm just messing with you about the Nissan. I love Japanese cars. Especially the old skool ones I've owned a 1990 RX7 TII, a 1993 RX7 Turbo, and my favorite a 1974 RX4 Coupe with a factory 13B.

I've always liked the Skylines, 240Z's. Your 200Sx with trunk is much nicer than the earlier hatch back versions.

But, the 635 is pure class and yours in a very nice example.

Haha I know thanks for the compliments!

Yea they're for very different things. The 200SX is a fast road / track weapon whereas the 6er is just endless style to cruise around in looking generally awesome. Plus there isn't much left to do to the Nissan so need something to get stuck into!

The look on the blokes faces at work when a 23 year old steps out of the 6er is funny!

Super color combo! One of my favorites for sure. Great find!

Welcome to TOTAL MADNESS!!! On your way to addiction. I think that your 200SX will start to get lonely for a little while. Haha. Hope you enjoy every moment.

Mods are somewhat a speciality of mine! Suspension and brakes first!

Frankly, I'd find a set of sport seats first ...

Personally, I'd start off with a nice set of classic wheels and new rubber for your car. It is the single most important item to really make your Sixer shine.

See, that's the difference between an enthusiast and a poseur . An enthusiast wants function first and looks later ...

Haha ill hopefully end up with both.

The suspension is looking like a bit of a minefield.

I was hoping to just fit lowering springs but it looks like matching with uprated dampers is a must. But that's another £500 ouch! And that before camber correction.

No; it isn't that bad. The only manufacturer that makes shorter 'sport' shocks is Bilstein - and that's because they have internal bump stops that might get beat up with shorter springs. Nonetheless, I've run Bilstein HDs with short springs for years. If you don't bottom them out regularly, it's not a problem. If you do decide to go with new shocks and inserts, it shouldn't cost that much unless you're getting screwed on prices. There is no appreciable extra labor in the rear and less than an hour in the front.

Are bilstein HD the same as bilstein B4? I'd only be lowering 30mm

And labour is no problem I do all my own mods!
