Recomendations for Tires for the M Coupe

Just wondering if you guys can recommend tires for the Coupe. I know the S03's are great, tried the ContiSportContacts but need something that will last and wear better. I really want an all rounder, not too harsh nor too soft. Let me know since the rears of Coupe needs to be replaced. Thanks, Manny

RE750's maybe? Not quite the dry performance on the S03's, but good on wet, and should last longer.... not too expensive, either...

    No more BMWs :(
The new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s seem to be testing very well, and has a rather good treadwear rating. It was cheaper than the S03 too when I looked on Tire Rack. (this was for 19" however)

The Kumho MX is so much cheaper than the S0-3 that you might could still get a high performance tire and negate the wear issue somewhat with the price.

I have S0-3 and they don't wear very well, but I'm also gonna be able to go through 2 sets of rears and one set of fronts... I think... we'll see how the next few months go..

Married, no cool car for me...
    I second the Kuhmo MX's.

So far the 255/40/17 rears have lasted me 14k miles; which is an all time record for me so far.

Try Pirelli. I'm running P-Zero Neros and I love them. The ride is great, they stick like mad, they're super quiet, good steering response, and they're cheap compared to the others. I've put 10k on them with about 50% tread left running 30-32 psi. I didn't like the Pilots--they don't give much warning before the breakaway point, maybe too stiff of a sidewall. The Neros give you a good audible squeal to let you know when you're at THEIR limit. I think I paid around $600 for a full set in stock sizes from Tirerack. Just my .02

    Yoke AVS 100's- better treadlife.
I run the Toyo T1S and I too think I've bought more tire than I really need considering I rarely get the chance to push the car to it's limits.

Lets be honest- if you do reach the limits of these cars on the street you're probably not driving very responsibly. In retrospect I'd buy a longer lasting tire that's good in the wet. If the car grips anywhere near what it does with the T1S that's just an added bonus. I've never reached the limit of these tires in handling, so I could do with a little less. That's just me though. A lot of people here would have a very different point of view.

I chose to go with the Sumitomo HTR+, its all season (275 and 235's) and I believe that NTB offers a 40000 mile warranty on the tire... cant beat that with SO-3, Khumo, etc. if you are looking for longevity.

Kuhmo MX's one more time...235/45/17 front & 255/40/17 rear. Only took me six months to burn through my last set of rears (seem to burn at a rate of two sets rear to one front), but that was with about 3 track events, couple of autocrosses, and lots of aggressive driving. I have a dedicated track wheel set and Toyo RA-1's now so the Kuhmo's should last a lot longer.

For inexpensive high performance tires you may want to look at the Falken Azenis Sports (RT-215 only) as well. Unfortunately, they come in a very limited size selection (225/45 fr & 245/45 r), however, Falken's usually run a bit wider than other manufacturers.

"Let me know since the rears of Coupe needs to be replaced. Thanks, Manny"...

Make sure you get the same "performance tires type" as the front,,,so if you have high performance summer, the rear must be the same...Otherwise you will get into troubles... like me...

I would go with the HTR+, all high performance all seasons if you got snow,, or Kuhmo MX(Summer Only, bad for snow) if I think they are good for wetty conditions...

To me, S-03's grip better than the stock pilot sports with less tire noise and better ride. I'm verry happy with them.

I'm probably going to get P-Zero Neros. I've heard a lot of good stuff from them.

I've been very happy with the Goodyear Eagle F1s. So far they have not exhibited the tramlining tendencies of the S03s (and I believe are lighter, which is a bonus), and not as noisy as the Toyo T1s. Never had the Kuhmos but people seem to like them.

I think they do, check the Goodyear site or Tirerack to find out. I have 255/40/17s on, with 235/45/17 on the fronts
