Umm Ok, im sure mine is not running at optimum efficiency, nothing obvious it's just running rich, I'm about to do a mega re-build of the top end though, so hopefully that will help! Car has only done 65,000miles! But to give you a comparison, right now in cold'ish(6c) and rainy Germany, if i just spend the week driving about 8 miles to work and back, in my 840 with a 2.88 open dif, and 18" M-pars, my MFD is showing 15.4 English MPG!

That sounds a bit high, a friend with a 540 from the same era use "just" 13l/100km or ~22mpg(UK) for his mixed average.
Are you sure you have UK mpg, and not US mpg. 15.4mpg(US) is not too bad for city driving, do you have a l/100km figure?

have you tried to run it at slightly high rpm to burn the cat's clean?
My 850 manual states you need to drive above 3000rpm for at least 10 minutes every now and then to do this.

I know this is an old thread but can you tell us or somebody else that has been able to put E46 LSD internals on a e31 210mm case the process on how to do this, Im very interested because I have all the parts just need the insructions.

That's about what I get (US) at 143,000 miles. I thought it was normal.
