    Red Z3 Hardtop DFW area

I currently have a Red Hardtop for the Z3 that I do not use. If anyone is looking for one in the DFW area please let me know. I'll try to post pictures of it later this evening.

Oh and I was kidding about picking it up. I have no use or space for it.

I just wanted to step on some toes.

Sorry for not coming to the site sooner but I have been busy with work recently working 60-80 hour weeks. I'm currently thinking about not selling the top and possibly having a mechanical engineer put it into a CAD model that we could shop around to see if someone can manufacture some units. I have some connections in China for manufacturing that might have some interesting results but honestly I've been to busy with work to really do anything. I currently can not post any pictures to the site but can send pictures upon request.

I'm in the Fort Worth area and work with a mcad cam group: creo & solid works mainly. I have connections to metal fabricators, but no fiberglass or plasti mold guys, however I do have a 3 axis printer ( not large enough for a roof) but cool when building other car parts. Let me know if you need some help? I'd like to get a roof for my daughters roadster.

So if someone has a scaled model you could offer FDM? Now that would be Cool! I'd even have to think about getting a die cast model and using it for pre-mod tinkering!

There are still brand new OEM tops available for purchase off the shelf, pre-painted in a variety of colors. Although the common colors have sold out, for someone who wants a hard top there is still a solid option. They are somewhat pricey though, $1k or more than that as I recall.

Reason I mentioned that is I am really not sure you could get tops to the US from China for cheaper than the OEM tops that are already available.

You might take a look at the on-line parts suppliers. Depending on color, you may find what you want. I see a black or blue advertised for $4,000, green for 3,200 and gray for $1,100 - 1,300.

AFAIK BMW sold out of these in early 2011... I landed one of the last ones in sterling grey in late 2010. I could be mistaken.

I am in Dallas often or you could leave it at a shop there for me to pick up.

What are you looking to get for it? Hardware for install?

I think a hardtop would actually be really useful in Jul/Aug in DFW. I will keep looking.
