Now that the touring subforum has been created, it would be great if someone could compile as much of the existing touring information out there as possible and link them in a thread. Otherwise this subforum will become much like the E34 DIY subforum in that the DIYs are there but harder to find. If you find something that needs to be moved, I can do that, but creating another Quicklinks list would be ideal. If anyone is willing, please do so. I vote for Dennis!
TIA

Edit:
The above quote was a request from RVAE34 in a touring DIY thread in the E39 DIY section. The DIY section is specifically for DIY threads and Kev's title for this subforum states it's for questions and conversation specific to E39 wagons. I'm not sure it's such a good idea to mix regular threads with DIY threads. If someone makes a Quicklinks thread like the one I mention above, all the DIYs will be easy to find in one place. Considering how lame the search feature is on the forums, this is imo the best way to go. However, this subforum belongs to you touring owners, so I'll leave it up to you. If there's equal response for both methods, we can start a poll and put it to a vote.
Cheers,
James

Hi James!
Cheers for the vote !!
I see that some of the Touring specific threads have indeed been shifted over so that's a good start.
Would it be a case that I (and other's perhaps) find touring specific threads, and copy the thread link and paste here? at that point you as a moderator can 'move' and 'tidy' the thread up if needs be and put it in the relevant section? - I've not used 'quicklinks' before.
There's a few links I can think of that will need to be moved or copied perhaps here - mainly relating to some of the audio threads. I will also see if I can find more threads which could be useful on the UK forum and copy it across.
Please allow me some time for this! I'm off in a short while for the monthly German night at the Ace Cafe in NW London !
I'll quickly paste a few here as well;

Dennis,
Thanks for your response and for your willingness to help with organizing some touring info. Making a quicklinks thread is not a difficult thing to do once you know how to make a link. I already have the E39 FAQ and the E39 DIY Quicklink threads that keep me busy so, any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I’ll be able to help with the Touring Quicklinks thread as I find extra time, but it really makes sense for the thread to be created by member who owns a wagon so they can edit the thread at will without having to ask for the assistance of a Moderator/Admin.
Do not hesitate to ask if you need any help in getting started or about any part of the process. The best place to begin would probably be to create the DIY Quicklinks thread and link the touring specific DIYs from the DIY section.
Once again, thanks from me and I’m sure, from many others for doing this.
Cheers,
James
Thanks for the great info

Total postfail. Not in this thread and not in this sub-forum (touring = wagon)
Post in the 'main' E39 forum.

Make your own thread, don't just pile into a random existing one unless you find one of the many many old 'what to look for in a used E39...' threads. How you possibly picked this thread to post in is completely beyond me.
