eBay DTM (style) Muffler on E30

    Car: 1985 325e

    First my exhaust set up:

Stock everything except the muffler of course. No resonators (I recieved mine without resonators, not sure if stock ones have them)

I want to show, review the DTM style muffler on eBay sold by CosmoDynamic and DOTcomRacing. I picked this up for about $30 (shipping included) from DOTcomRacing. It has to be made in the Orient somewhere because it is so cheap. However, the quality suggests otherwise.

It is made very well. It has a very nice stainless steel finish with a solid deep, tone (not rasp like ricer pipes.) It has to be welded on. It is very light, I don't have a bracket to support the muffler itself but it's been solid since late September. I have monitored it by looking at its relation to the bumper above it. No sagging what so ever. I may make a bracket just to be safe, I just need to figure out how to mount it.

The muffler sticks out a bit so the tips clear the bumper. It's mounted higher than most people mount theirs because I don't have the body trim under the bumper.

Does it work well with a 325e? The 325e is a very common model. It is designed to be a low reving high fuel economy vehicle. This being said, straight-thru pipes such as the DTM are probably better for other models that are designed to rev more. (Basically everything except an "e" model.) It removes back pressure but adds to higher rpms (not really advantageous to the 325e) It works, but I would recommend it more for other e30 models.

    Pros:
    Great Price
    Good Quality
    Great Sound

    Cons:
Must be profesionally installed (no hack and go)
Difficult to secure to existing mounts
Sticks out (that's the look, but mine sticks out more than most since that was the best way to mount it)

    Any questions?
