E92 M3 Race Car Build - NASA GTS

Time for a new race car build!

After a very successful 2 years with my E46 M3 in NASA's GTS3 class, I've decided to start a new project. Found a 2011 E92 M3 locally with about 15K on the odometer with the 2 things I wanted: no sunroof and the 6spd.
I've heard great things about the DCT and actually got to drive one on the track a few weeks ago. I agree it's a great transmission and I can definitely see the benefits of one on the track. But for me, I like to keep as many things as possible in my control and I'd rather not rely on a computer to do my shifting for me. We'll see how it works out and, who knows, I may see things differently at some point. If I do, there's always a Drenth.

Anyway, with the success I've had in the E46 with the guidance of James Clay, I saw absolutely no reason to go to anyone else than BimmerWorld to get things going. Within my budget, James has put together a very smart build sheet for our initial phase for the build. And much like we built the E46, the E92 will be evolving slowly over time with more race oriented parts, while making sure we don't waste money doing things twice.

A few of the key items going on the car:
    - Motion Control Suspension 3-way Triple Adjustable dampers
    - Performance Friction big brake kit, front and rear
    - Diffsonline differential
    - Aero: BW carbon wing, BW carbon E92 splitter/undertray
    - Epic tuning

Not exactly sure what class it will be raced in as of yet, but will probably be a primarily GTS3 car (Epic detune) with the option a running in GTS4 with a flash of the ECU for more power. Waiting to see where we end up in terms of weight.

I spent the last 2 weeks stripping the interior getting the car ready for the cage installation and dropped it off yesterday at BW for the fabrication team to get started. Not much to share yet in terms of pictures, but hopefully will get some cage progress pics over the next few weeks.

Shooting to have the car on track in March.

Floor board, worst of the rod bearings @ 18k miles, and a shot of wiring fun.

Those bearings are scary for 18k miles. Is this a weak link in these motors? Any other weak links?

15W50 oil with enough ZDDP (Red Line) and let that thing warm up when you go to work in the AM! This is common wear and the problem we suspect with E46 M3 rod bearings also.

Josh, Do you have which belt it is that you used with the Dinan pulley for the AC delete? About the get the Dinan power pulley and will need the belt size. Since you have it, would you provide that information to me?

    Belt?

    Hi Josh

I realize this post is a few yrs back...but wondering if you remember the size of the belt you used when deleting the AC? Im in the process of building an E92 M3. Thank you!
