Enjoy your Falkens, they are great tires. And yes, that was an error on my part. Meant to say R14.

No worries. The pic below shows what expedited my tire purchase.

    Heat wave + dry-rotted tires = blowout

The size is 195/65/14, not 15. That's for both the 6" wide bottlecaps and 6.5" wide weaves. If you have any of the 15x7 wheels, the factory size is 205/55/15.

    I run 195/65x15 on my 15x7 basketweaves..

On stock ride height but i would not recomend it.. Rubs up front and it handles like a Crown Vic

Lower profile for the proper feeling.. 55 or less

my car is lowered on bilstein front and rear I feel like lower profile and thinner width would be better with the lowered heigth

    No e30s, again :(
Not a 185/55. I prefer the lower sidewall but also like a wider contact pattern so I can't help on the 185 version
    No e30s again.

I'm assuming you're running on the 14x6 bottlecaps which had an original factory size of 195/65/14. You had an original rolling diameter of 23.98". Going with a shorter sidewall without changing the wheel size is going to affect that diameter which in turn affects the speedometer readings. The question is how much can you get away with.

185/55/14 - this cuts the sidewall height from 5" to 4". However that cuts the rolling diameter to 22" which has a major impact on your speedo. When travelling about 60 your speedo will read about 67. Add in the typical BMW under-reporting of speed and it will read about 70. This is not recommended.

Really the only way to cut the sidewall height is to run larger diameter wheels.

Alright thanks for the measurement conversion I was totally guessing at that. My speedo is already running overclocked because I changed over the rear gear to an LSD 4.1 first and second gear feel very similar 😎 I ended up about 2 and 3/4 lower in the front on the new suspension and about 2 and 1/4 lower in the rear but when the kids get in the back in levels out just about right . I dont drive high speeds in this E30 it's all about zero to 60 for me so around 80 mph is the limit of my rpm's with that gear.

your speedo runs off the gear in the diff so its still reading ok. that's what good about e30s, no transmission gears to change when you change diff ratios.
