I need a source for a made to fit 850 cover..... perferably the thin light weight parachute nylon type just to cover up and keep the dust off ..
California car cover company - just got 2 of them.
They fit like a glove, even with CSi front spoilers.

I'm not sure if they still make them but I have a genuine BMW accessories one for my 8
Random Sig below (refresh to see new image)
Weather shield HD. Nothing better for outdoors. Indoors- try Noah or flannel.
1997 Cosmos Black 850 Ci somewhere on PCH.
"Parachute nylon" type is probably WeatherShield HP, the very lightest, as opposed to WeatherShield HD, which is a little heavier but supposedly better for ultraviolet protection. These two fabrics are marketed under that trade name by CoverCraft, whose custom-cut covers are sold by dealers (online & otherwise). You can check out the various fabric differences here:

whether or not you use CoverCraft. Maybe Cal Car Cover are cheaper? (Cal's "Noah" is NOAH obviously, "Stormweave" is probably Kimberly-Clark's Evolution4 fabric, and "Superweave" is likely Weathershield HP.)
@boltnbrew, NOAH is OK for outdoors except far north (ice thaw&re-freeze) and far south (so-so UV protection), and @04SSHD, NOAH is what your BMW model is made from; it's substantially bulkier.

Noah quilted works great indoors also. Nice and snug!
I guess when your time on the planet is up, then its up.
In a space of no more than six weeks my car cover went from looking perfectly normal, to this.
My records have it as "Stormforce" from Cover-Zone, with 2-year warranty.
Next!!
That chart at Covercraft is sweet, WeatherShield HP inbound.
Was tempted by the lower cost Ultratect.
Several years later, I now own 3 WS HP's, on 3 vehicles.
Satisfied, repeat buyer.
Was finally forced to obsolete my former cover, a waffle-pattern material that started shedding a white powder which I will assume (?) was a UV treatment.
Also my guess is that the disintegration shown an above post was due to a freezing of absorbed water.
Metaphorically speaking, Covercraft makes fitted Italian suits vs baggy pants.
Thin and light weight vs heavy bulk.
Has mirror pockets, and a noted by others, this plus the tight fit keeps that cover on the car, up to about 45mph winds. (Actual event, not a theoretical opinion).
{edit: to clarify, with winds of 25 and gusts to 45, on an exposed driveway, the cover had left the car. There are grommet holes for a undercarriage strap to prevent this.}
Two nitpicks...
* The nylon (?) material is super slippery, turning you into a circus clown trying to get it onto the car. I check first for any neighbors watching, ask them to put their iPhones away.
* The color fades slightly but immediately.
* {more} Made-to-order with 4-6 week lead. But with so many cars throughout history, what do you expect? A big warehouse with everything, just ready to ship?
