Priming motor that has been sitting for over 2 years?

I have an s52 that I just installed that has been sitting for over 2 years..... How do I prime it with oil? It has not had any oil in it for a very long time and is a relatively low mileage motor so I want to avoid an oil starved start up.... Thanks

Do a full fluid change and flush including gas I'm sure someone else has something more to add here

Lol engine got a full tear down so there is absolutely nothing in there

take the valve cover off and dump a qt over each cam, a qt over the timing chain and sprockets, 2 qt down the oil filter tube and container. dump rest 2 in theyre.

beyond that its taking oil pan off to fill the oil pump. I think the above should help alot

You don't have to go crazy. I wouldn't even bother taking the valve cover off. My motor was sitting for 4.5 years (outside, on the ground, covered, nothing plugged up) before it found a new home. Fill it with fresh oil and filter, remove the fuel pump fuse, and crank it over for about a minute. That's all I did, and no problems. Just hit 5k miles on it today since June when I finished it and started DD'ing it.

If engine had oil in it the whole time just chane it. Also pull fuel fuse and turn over some before starting

Consider a squirt of oil in each cylinder, fresh oil and filter, remove fuel pump fuse and crank it over without the plugs. A tank of good fresh gas and a can of Seafoam once up and running.

If the engine had a full tear down they should have used lube on all the bearings before putting it back together for exactly this purppose.

In any case if you are really concerned I would pull the plugs and crank by hand few times and a couple drops in each cylinder wont hurt anything.

Do like the others said and take the valve cover off and pour oil over the cams. Then take the plugs and injector relay out and crank the engine for 30 seconds (don't overheat your starter) or so to build up oil pressure. Then put everything back together and start the car.

sorry didn't mean full tear down not sure why I said that, but the motor was stripped down to barely block and head, which is why it has no liquids in it.... I will pull the plugs and put a little oil in each cylinder then just fresh oil and filter...

I started my M30 after sitting for a couple years. I pulled the plugs and poured oil into each cylinder, then cranked it after making sure crank case had fresh oil. This will get the oil pump to start circulating the oil. If you want pull the valve cover and pour oil over the cams, that works, but not necessary. Crank the engine for ten seconds, then let it set for a minute or so, then again. Repeat 4 or 5 times. Maybe put some additional oil in the plug holes during this. Put the plugs back in and start it up.
