so, i am really interested in putting in a LS into my 99 e46 323. Now mounting and fitting and all that is not that big of a deal for me, what i would like more knowledge on is how difficult it is getting the chevy ecu to talk with the bmw. Also i what ecu do people normally run when doing these swaps? stock, or has anyone tried using a delphi? I want all my gauges to work still
also i notice most of these swaps im seeing are e36, any particular reason for that other than preference? something that makes an e36 easier to swap?

I think you'll find the main problem with e46 is the canbus that runs the cluster and everything else.
Seems like someone is working on it: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1887229

Just like James said, e36 has a simple wiring/electronics. No can bus issues to deal with.
