Be careful prying out chunks. You don't want to damage the dash piece below it that it screws into. Also, when you install new one it might be advisable to spray it with a UV protectant Clearcoat to avoid future repeat problems.
It sure appears to do it right the dash has to come out. I am tempted because there are a couple of other issues I could address. One is my temp door sticks and the bracket for the left a/c outlet/headlight switch panel screw is gone. I have toyed with idea of some kind of cover. A plate of sort glued over the crack, or some type of material over the entire piece. What though-Leather, vinyl, plastic. There are options, but original and as new means pulling the dash. I suppose many have new parts they have ordered and are waiting until there are enough opportunities to justify pulling the dash.
(1) Do you still have a beige spare cover?
(2) Does it appear that a second cover can be fit over the original (assuming all the bumps and connections are ground away on the bottom side)?
Thanks.
No replies so i just ordered parts and hope for the best. i'll take pics to document my process.

According to this post, the screws come up from under the dash.

Curious about your progress. I'm in the same boat on my Z3 coupe. Have the part, just too lazy and cheap to pull the dash

Bump. Has anyone had success in replacing this trim piece 51458410975? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...z/51458410975/
It's odd that the BMW dealership and realoem.com do not show this part as being available on my Z3 3.0i Coupe. It appears that either the extended leather dashes, or all M's, had a 1-piece dash, without this plastic piece. I definitely have it, though, and it's in about 6 pieces.
The windshield is currently out on my coupe while Safelite tracks down a windshield gasket, and I'd like to replace my cracked dash piece. It sounds like the proper way to replace it is to remove the entire dashboard, though. Is that true? Has it been confirmed that it screws in from the underside of the dash?
Thanks!

I didn’t end up doing it. I still have the part if anyone needs it.

It's not clear from this link. With the windshield out, it sounds like they drilled the cover's screws out from the top to avoid removing them from below with dash removed:

Sounds like that's the case....
I have the VIN sticker on order. I guess I'll have to consider a dash swap possibly at the same time as replacing this part. Or swap in a dash that doesn't use this part. Sounds like that would either be an M dash or an extended leather dash. I can't quite tell what it's tied to.
Maybe swap to grey/black? My interior is black with fully blue seats (non-M sport seats) and blue in the door cards. Currently with walnut trim. I plan to eventually go to aluminum trim and custom seat covers that would be some combo of grey/black/blue.
