    X5 2006 E53 3.0d - Condenser fan shot, help with the part numbers?

    Hey guys,

    I drive an E38 7 series so this is my first foray into the world of X's... My mum drives an X5, the 2006 E53 3.0d as in the thread title, and recently we found out the A/C condenser fan is shot. Had it in to be checked and they confirmed that - fan is buggered, only blows cold when the car is moving, common sign it would seem. I checked on RealOEM and the part number shown is 64546921382, however I can't find any fan assemblies anywhere using this part number. 64546921381 though, no problem (just ends in 1 instead of 2) but that first number no dice.

    Is 64546921382 just a part number that supersedes 64546921381, or are they entirely different units? Looking online, you can get a 64546921381 for about $500 delivered here in AUS, while the 'official' quotes we've got locally all come to about $1200 just to get the fan alone! I've come across a few fans on eBay and the like, such as this;

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-E53-X...-/400179243252

    But they all use that 'older' part number. Would one of those work? Or will I absolutely have to track down a fan with the 382 part number?

    Thanks

    The part numbers do not interchange from what I'm looking at.

    But looking at the two, mounts are different and over all design is slightly different.

    Ahh I see, thanks! Looks like you guys have them and at a VERY reasonable price too... Even with the $200 or so shipping cost to me here in Australia (according to the website) that's still half what the locals all want - just to BUY the fan, let alone install it!!

    Thank you again, I think I'll be putting an order in very soon

    Just wanted to update; ordered the part, very reasonable cost & shipping charges. It arrived last week and we put the car in 2 days ago... Everything is installed and working good as new.

    Thanks ECS!!

    Cool

    Hi there,,, Solution
    I have been through the same thing, what i have found was buy the cheap fan ( 64546921381 ) from china $ US 120. then take your 64546921382 out of your car and undo the 3 bolts that hold the fan in place and put the new motor in the old housing, works a treat ( fan motors are the same but housing arent.)
