What is going on with my new rotors and pads???

I just had my rear rotors and pads replaced on my '96 M3. The rotors are cross drilled Zimmermans and the pads are PBR Deluxe. I've driven about 10 miles since they were changed. Looking at the rear rotor on the passenger side, it looks like only the outer 1/3 of the rotor is being worn/grabbed. : The driver side looks normal. Any ideas before I take a trip back to my mechanic?

    Thanks, in advance!

    Could it be warped rotors?

What do you mean by worn/grabbed? If the shop hurried, they could have actually put the pad in backwards, so the backing plate contacts the rotor. However, the results are not subtle: horrific grinding noises, squealing, grabby brakes, and sparks.

If it's more subtle than that, then it could just be pad depsosits that will work out over time.

Here's a great collection of braking related white papers.

Maybe the pads need to be properly set?

10 miles is nothing.... That's really not unnatural. Keep driving and look at them after 500 miles... they should be fully broken in by then.

Thanks for the replies. I remember a time when I didn't pay that much attention and just trusted what was going on. My roundtrip to work is 140 miles so I'll drive it to work a few times and see if it changes.
