It's still very portable see that q bottle that fits perfectly in my e30? Had a full sized one because I have a wrx wagon as well, but was too big to be portable.
I almost bought the invertig. Really good deal for a pretty good welder. Only reason why I didn't buy it instead over the miller, is if anything were to happen to the welder, there's a repair facility local to me and I'm sure parts are easier to get. Just don't want to be with out a welder longer than I need to be with orders stacking up, that's if something were to happen
Came across these videos I made a while ago - some people might enjoy. Just turning random things for various projects:

I love turning bronze - its so easy to clean up:

That bushing eventually turned into the bushing I put in the end of the transmission link its 932 "bearing bronze" which is oil impregnated so it works well for bushings and such. I made a DSSR for my car since no one offers one for this engine/trans/chassis combo

I designed the end links in solidworks and 3D printed them as proof of concept to make sure everything cleared:

If you want to cramp up your hand, you can make spiked valve cover nuts using the cross feed and compound. This was fun, but man, tiring on a manual lathe! These are exact OE spec but aluminum so they take the factory thickness washers (though I made polished aluminum ones) and rubber grommets:

Caution: I don't know what the hell I am doing so pay no attention to anything I post.
I feel like I was blind and now I can see. Can't believe I actually used a HF inverter stick welder to build 2 midsections + 1 full exhaust.
Got it saturday but banned myself from playing with it until I put my e30 back together. Then I got sick, so I only played with it for 30 mins last night. I started giggling after I got a taste for how much easier it is vs stick. Now I want to weld everything. Also got the .024" drive hub, tips and nozzle gel.
Where do you guys buy welding supplies, wire, etc? Any good online sources? A 2 lb spool of stainless .023 ER309L wire is $47 from mcmaster... is that just the way it is, or is mcmaster expensive?
Or 10lb spool of .025 ER309L for $170?

Yeah, don't buy anything related to welding from McMaster. I have liked HTP wire, and it's cheap.

It's fine with C25 in my experience. Just give it a wire wheel afterwards.
Technically it's more corrosion prone due to the carbon, but I've never seen a MIG'd 308L C25 weld rust. Then again, our cars don't look like they spent a year in the ocean like some of the rust belt rigs do... soo.....
It definitely rusts - had a friend do a nice stainless exhaust and all TIG'd then we welded hangers on it with his MIG using my 309L wire and standard and 75/25, and the TIG'd exhaust was nice but the welded on hangers definitely did rust (at least on the surface dunno if he owned it long enough for it to become an issue). But some silver paint can fix that.
Protip: If you don't live in the rust belt, even bare ER70S6 MIG welds won't rust.
any gas lens kits you guys reccomend? im using a stubby #9 cup and gas lens from my local store, but was thinking about trying something different as ive been welding a lot of stainless as of recent and would like some more stick out. Not sure if I want to spend that much money on something like a toxic fab cup, though.
I've got a... I'm thinking 9 year old sheet of hot rolled 16 Ga sheet metal that I've had in my garage from living in Fort Worth, and now Houston - it has very light speckling of rust.
The cold rolled 1018 flat bar I get never rusts.
I just noticed I didn't paint some of my S13 I ground on and welded on like a year ago... zero rust. Whoops - but no real downside.
If you dont want to spend the money for the toxic cup, try the fupa cup from dog fab, much cheaper than the toxic cup. I have used both, and like the toxic cup better, but the fupa cup works good as well. http://dogfab.com/Cup_Kits_and_Pricing.html
