Otis for that manifold is it a case of trial and error for the piececs between the head flange and the 3-1 collectors. I mean do you try a piece and then trim it if needed and try it again Or do you have templates/jigs for each of the pieces already.

    Its a 3 dimensional jigsaw.

Welding the runners onto a 3-1 collector seems doable but I'll never get how someone welds the inside of the last runner onto a 6-1 collector, theres no room and the welding torch doesnt look that dainty Whats the trick to that?

Gas lens, WP-9 torch w/ small back cap, stick the tungsten out far (because of gas lens). Use a large nozzle, 1/16" tungsten

Ever see a valve cover and coil wires melt because the turbo was to close to it? I have. This does not compute.

here are a few more that I don't have pictures of

this is how I prefer to file piston rings

    clamps into the bench vise

    simple rod bolt stretch gauge

this tool I made for moching up a roll cage. You slide pieces of pvc pipe on the ends and a bolt goes through the center of the two pieces with a wing nut on the backside. they can be adjusted to any angle and the pcv tube slide in and out to change length. This way you can play with fitment as much as you want. Once you get it where you want, lock it down and take measurments. I thought about getting these injection molded and selling them.

This is a hoist I built to go in my garage. Printed out of ABS plastic. I calculated a safe load rating of 1000 lbs. If I made this out of a different material it could be made with a safe load rating of up to 3000 lbs without making it any thicker.

It rides between two 2x6's in the rafters

beats the shit out of a cherry picker

I use to use a come along as an engine hoist back in the day. Lag hooks into beams can hold a lot of weight. I like that yours has som side to side action.

I am very curious as to what the engineers/physicists say about the diameter of the runner after the 3-1 for proper scavenge/etc.
Where have I been? Astral projecting.

Everlast 185. I have no money and they offered me a great deal. They are coming out with a update in 3 weeks so I pre ordered that. They threw in a pedal, a 110V kit, and a 17 torch for 850 shipped. Those are normally extra. Promised the wife I will make it pay for itself, so looks like I'm looking for fab work. Anyone want a shortened 9 inch with disc brakes!

Nice - Everlast kind of worries me and their pedal setup is so weird. Their pedal has 0 - 100% amperage all the time. Not sure I could get used to that.

Good luck and let us know how she works out. I know the guy on weldingtipsandtricks uses them from time to time with great results. The only thing that sucks is their support.

yeah I've heard that as well. If you want more resolution for low amperage you can also run them on 110V. that will give you approximately 0-100 amps at the pedal. I would like to get a diversion 180 but the money isn't there. They have a 5 year waranty but I guess I will have to see how much yelling and arm twisting is involved.

That turbine orientation makes sense in a cramped e36 engine bay. Interested to see how it works out.

Perry, please give an update on how you like the welder.

Has anyone used the Eastwood TIG? Obviously not top tier quality, but their stuff is usually decent.

I haven't used the eastwood tig but I thought about picking one up before I got mine

It will be about a month wait before I get the everlast. I do have a eastwood 135 mig, which I used for all the fabrication on my car. It is actually a pretty nice little unit. Weld quality is great, nice stable arc and consistant feed. It is also quite powerful. Below is a pic I snapped about 30 secounds after finishing a weld when I was fabricating my frame rail. This is on two 3/16 plates. You can also see the penetration from the weld on the side, which was done from the inside of the tube. The supplied gun, clamp, and regulator are all very nice. I have had a couple quality issues. The tip shield the unit cam with are garbage. I threw them in the trash on the first day and rused the ones from my old welder. Also there was a shielding gas leak inside the unit so I had to remove the side covers and fix that. I drained two tanks of gas through it because I left the regulator on before fixing the leak. Also lately the tip has started to stay electofied even without the trigger pressed which is very annoying. I will be sending it back for warranty once I get the tig. I have about 15 lbs of wire through it so far.

Overall, it is a very well performing unit, but cheap. If I could do it again I would not buy it. I would try to find a used miller 135 or hobart handler 140, which are both excellent 110v units, and can be outfitted with spool guns.
