Nice work man that looks awesome
nicccceeeeee
this is great awesome thread shows that patience is a virtue great job on the door panels too considering on doing coupes? .. btw do you miss having the oem door panel there? I use mine a lot for my arm when I'm driving and think doing one like yours wouldnt feel right for me but the door panels are a PITA.... good job on the car too by the way
I don't miss the door cards at all, I never used the door side as an armrest, even my center console armrest I took out of the car for a non-armrest version. Besides fixed back seats and the radar detector in the cluster, the door panels have been my favorite interior mod, hands down.
I do want to do them for coupes, I would just need a car to borrow for a few days to prototype the new panel.
Finished the rears last night

Photos of my car from the Berkeley/Treasure Island meet, wish I could have finished off recoating the Sharpie, but oh well. Fantastic response, everyone seems to like it inside and out.

I kinda like it.
Is that not normal ?
You should consider painting your car, looks too good to be sharpied .
I will most likely be vinyl wrapping it this spring... I just can't afford a paint job unfortunately. I have a couple ideas in mind already, just need to make some decisions.
That said, a lot of people love the Sharpie.

Im down for a meet as soon as I am in CA. Driving down in March
nice build thread that is one sexy ride.
Im def liking the build but damn i feel like for how much work you did man you could you should finish the car instead of the sharpie stuff and so on...
Hey Gregg, how long did it take to do the auto to manual swap? And how much did it cost you total?
Must ask. How many sharpies did you use?
i bet if you showed your car to sharpie they might give u a gallon or two of paint so u can have it professionally sprayed and clear coated on top
Seriously, I CANNOT afford a paint job. I don't know how many times I have to say that... I won't be able to for several years at least. I support my girlfriend and myself on only my paycheck, plus I am building her an e30. I am permanently broke.
Can't give you an accurate quote on either, I already had a manual engine/trans/wiring from my 94 that was totaled... It should average $500 for parts and a solid weekend, but there's quite a few threads on the process.
This is it's second "paint job" and I've only used 1/2 of the 36 I bought so far. Bought them all on eBay for $40 shipped.
They don't give a s#it to be blunt about it. I already showed them the car and unless you're some sort of artist or musician that they can use to sell they simply DO NOT care. The other issue is that you can't clearcoat the standard Sharpie because the solvents in the clear would ruin the ink. You can clearcoat the paint pens, but those don't have the unique inky-purple-black color the standard markers have.

I had the pleasure of seeing this car in person on saturday. The pictures dont do it justice. they also cant capture the beautiful custom exhaust note.
Thanks again to spyke for making me a custom door pannel!

Shes one pretty smurf
(did you sharpie her hair!?)
No way! She does have blue dyed hair though. (Just for the record the only smurf with hair was Smurfette, and she was a blonde.)
In other news, I finally made a decision on the exterior... I had a million ideas in mind, but I'm settling on wrapping with brushed black metallic vinyl. Just a matter of when I have some spare cash...
I am also going to be finishing up the flooring soon, so I'm thinking the two changes will really tie the whole car together again. I found an industrial non-slip epoxy paint that works on horizontal and vertical applications. I will use that for all the bare metal where the tar sound deadening was stripped and the carpet is gone. It will be nice to pretty everything up... really looking forward to this year.
